GLENDALE, Ariz. Fire crews from across the west Valley battled a fire at a sports equipment store under construction near the Cardinals' stadium in Glendale.
The fire burned the roof of the new Cabella's store.
The flames put up a lot of smoke and fire officials say it's been knocked down at 92nd Avenue and Glendale.
The building is 164-thousand-square feet and was set to open July 28th.
There are no reports of injuries. Workers were evacuated.

this is all? do you have any idea how much money I was going to spend at Cabela's next month?
Anyway, this is my first post, have been a lurker for a long time, and I am a huge Cards fan, ex season ticket holder and I live 2 miles from the stadium. There have been a couple arsons at some Wal Marts in the area, I hope this isn't related, but at least the Cards stadium isn't involved in this. Take care all, and I have enjoyed reading all your posts, it just so happens I have had enough liquid confidence to post tonight!
Later.

Thanks man, this place feels like home. I get ripped on at work and by my friends for being a Cards fan and everyone here has the same feelings I have. This is like AA....I love the Cards. Not trying to hijack the thread, sorry. Just excited and a little drunk.

Welcome azmike74. I wonder if there was any inventory in the building yet? Just think of all the "slightly smoke-damaged" merchandise that would end up in the Cabela's Bargain Cave!

Aw.

I though it was a manly man's drink, drunk by men like Owen Wilson and Abe Vigoda.

It was a 40yard dumpster that caught fire down in the bowl. Apparently it gave off quite a smoke stack, the guys thought it was going to be a lot worse, but it was a trash fire contained in the dumpster.

We had an ac fire the day before at Cabellas across the street. Nothing is arson related (someone referred to the walmarts), just normal mishaps.

I've moved on to Sierra Nevada Pale Bock. Great beer and has quite a kick (7+ % I believe)...
