call me old fashioned, but naming rights to a stadium just make me want to puke. i know, the money and all that. but just look at all of the dumb sounding stadiums out there now. examples: minute maid park in houston, US Cellular Field instead of Comiskey Park in Chicago, Qualcomm in San Diego instead of Jack Murphy, and even Papa John's Stadium at the University of Louisville. I would love to see a "Cardinals Stadium" - similar to Cleveland Browns Stadium or Yankee Stadium. We could all call it the Birds' Nest. I know it'll never happen, but I hope it's not like http://www.insight.com/cardinals stadium or something. How about ASFN Field?
I used to feel the same way as you, until I heard Jerry West answer a question on this topic about changing the name of The LA Forum to "Great West" Forum.
Basically, he asked the reporter interviewing him his name. I don't remember the reporters actual name, so lets assume the guy answers Larry. Jerry West then says, "Larry, if I give you $20 Million, can I call you Steve?"
End of Story.
Go Cards!!!
