Kidding Chap...

I wanted to discuss the Star Trek series as a whole, which movies do you like the best and why. Or if you even like any of them.

Favorite moments in the movies, quotes, etc.

Of course, I know that the Rosewood thread is going nuts, so I don't want to take anything away from it by posting this :D

My favorite has to be Star Trek IV, there was just so much humor in it, and screen time for all the cast...although the whole whales message was kind of annoying, like they were using the movie as a way to teach us about whale hunting, but it didn't really seem that bad to me.

Best line in that movie:

Scotty: "You planning to take a swim sir?"

McCoy: "Off the deep end Mr. Scott..."

:D

Series-A-Week--why don't you make that a Sticky too? Seriously...

My favorites of the series are 2, 4 and the last one, Nemesis.

The last one? You're kidding right? Why did you like it so much?

I liked it because it was dark and it was more than just boring like most all the odd numbered Treks. You didn't like it? I thought it was terrific. First Contact is up there as well. (But then again, I have a fondness for the TNG crew anyway)

No, the movie was horrible...it was like an episode they put on the big screen. I really was disappointed.

Only one that was worse, or just as bad, was Trek 5.

I liked First Contact A LOT though, one of my favorites. I liked the meeting at the end with the Vulcans. Just a great Trek moment.

You're saying that Insurrection wasn't like an episode they put in the theater?? Come on!

I hated the fact that Nemesis was the last with that crew, but every character had really come full circle--they all "fit", and that's what made it so great. With the exception of the wedding, there was no reason to depend on character development, they were already developed.

I never mentioned Insurrection either...that's one of my least favorites too.

And ugh, please don't mention that wedding, it was horrible!

Bah, TNG sucks big-time...it cannot even compare to the real Star Trek.

Picard, while sophisticated and well-spoken, is no fun compared to Kirk. Kirk was a good man, like Picard, but he was THE man, unlike Picard. Kirk was a macho go-getter that wasn't afraid of action. Picard wasn't afraid, but he hesitated to use force waaaay too much for a sci-fi action show.

Let's see. Spock and Data...is there even a comparison?

Jordy (spelling?) and Scottie...again, is there even a comparison?

The list goes on and on.

Oh, and I forgot. In Nemesis, did anyone else get the creepy feeling that they were watching a young, thin Tele Sevales?

Um, no.

Dude, you're nuts.

To each their own...I just found it funny.

The movie itself was okay. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. They could have done some things much better. Plus, given I don't really go in for TNG, it's not surprising I didn't pick everything up.

For what it's worth, my favorite trek is III-The Seach For Spock.

Everyone watch it this weekend, as I am going to throw it up for discussion on Monday.
