It's still Disney Star Wars and they burned all of their good will with the Disney trilogy. A lot of fans are saying no until Kennedy is gone and many are pushing/hoping for those movies to be removed from canon. They did a lot of damage to the fandom.

I get that, and I want Kennedy out as much as the next guy (though from what I've heard Favreau and Filoni are pretty much running SW now and she's gone when her contract is up). But RS is a step in the right direction and I have faith in Jenkins.

Yeah, the rumors had been that she's basically out and is gone once her contract runs out. There's rumors though that she's not going to be out now due to how well The Mandalorian is performing. If true that's really stupid since that's all on Favreau and Filoni. So fingers crossed.

Patty Jenkins is hopefully going to be good but I'm giving a little bit of pause after stuff that's come out on WW84. I don't know if the issues with it are her doing (at least partially) or if it was stuff forced on her. Hopefully the latter for RS's sake.

This should apply to Dave Filoni more than Favreau, but Favreau does deserve a lot of credit.

You think? Filoni is definitely big in it and deserves credit. He was the driving force behind the cartoons. The Mandalorian is what's pulling SW up right now though and I've been giving Favreau more credit on it since he's the show runner and wrote the majority of the episodes. I know Filoni is a producer, writer, and director on some episodes but it feels like Favreau's role is larger. Am I missing something on it?

My hope has been that they put Favreau as the head of Star Wars with Filoni as his right hand man.

You may be right, I just think in terms of strong Star Wars content, nobody beats Filoni. The guy's been carrying Star Wars for YEARS, especially when Kathleen Kennedy kept releasing sub-par movies.

Mainly stuff that's usually bad signs. Reshoots due to negative focus group testing types of things. They also based Pedro's character off of Trump which usually putting current politics into a move like WW doesn't end well or at least dates it. There's been some other story issue rumors too with stuff like how they brought Chris Pine back.

Some of the effects in the clips they've released have look bad too. Like there's a scene with Gadot running that the green screen is horrible looking and she looks like she's fake running. I was surprised by how it looked for a big budget movie in 2019-2020.

That's the direct opposite of what I've heard. I've heard that it's great and they do a spectacular job of making this not only LOOK like the 80s, it has an 80s movie feel to it as well.

It's possible your hearing newer info and they got things fixed after the reshoots. We'll know in a couple weeks how good it is. I'm hoping it's good. Wonder Woman has been my favorite of the DC movies so far. The news that it wasn't going well has been a downer due to that, especially after the trailer with Blue Monday was so good.

there was some talk of problems early in production but the early word on the finished product is that is kicks a lot of ass.

take the above with a grain of salt as early reactions can sometimes lean overly positive, but there's usually some rather vocal naysayers. this one has gotten near universal praise so far.

If Chris Pine is legit back and isn't gone by the end of the movie, or it doesn't turn out to not be him, I'll be out. Just rips the stakes out of the first movie.

Fascinating reading the WW84 rumors before we all witnessed that catastrophe.

Too bad about RS. :(

Patty Jenkins might turn out to the very definition of a one hit wonder. You don't pull something like this from the schedule unless something goes really wrong during preproduction and/or the studio doesn't like what they are seeing.

Back in 2021, she and Lucasfilm couldn't agree on a script idea. So, this is actually not that surprising. They finally agreed to a script idea and she allegedly has been working on the treatment ever since. Sounds to me like it might be a script problem.

Honestly, I am not sure how to feel. WW2 was pretty awful at times. If they pulled the plug this early, my guess is maybe the script was looking pretty bad. If we hear an announcement about replacing her? Likely it's a good thing if things were just not developing well for the past year.
