The brilliant and eloquent public speaker Stephon Marbury thinks Michael Vick is a victim of the situation here and that dogfighting is a sport like deer hunting.

From Newsday

Stephon: 'From what I hear, Dog-fighting is a sport'

I know most of you might have seen this by now. But if not...
Capital 9 News in Albany posted it four hours ago. It was an interview with Stephon Marbury, who was up that way on Monday as part of his Starbury sneaker tour, and offered this thoughts on Michael Vick. (There's a brief horse racing promo at the start of the clip.)
If you're having trouble with the link (my bad), here's the transcript:
We don’t say anything about people shooting deers and shooting other animals. You know what I mean? From what I hear, dog-fighting is a sport. It’s just behind closed doors and I think it’s tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down. I think he’s one of the superb athletes and he’s a good human being. I think he fell into a bad situation.”
You have to believe the Knicks - and James Dolan - can not be pleased with these misguided sentiments.

vick was my favorite football player of all time. i have his autographed jersey still hanging on my wall and his collectables scatteres in boxes throughout my closet. He did what he did to make more money than he already had, which is foolish. i refuse to believe that he started it though. why would he, he has tons of money and i doubt he is looking for ways to get more. he still should not have gotten involved. oh well, a wise man one said "**** happens"

marbury is still on as much crack as ever.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with money for Vick. It was something that he enjoyed, and that's all.

I dont think it was a money issue. He probably liked running and funding the thing, and turning domesticated and friendly animals into violent and disposable entertainment

Picks up stone, winds up ...

Never killed anything in my life. I cringe when I see dogs choked during training. I can't believe the things I've heard he's done to dogs.

OTOH, how this became a federal crime with prison time blows me away. They spent money on a large investigation on this? While murders go unsolved in Atlanta? Hey, maybe our federal policing unit have too much money and our local police need more. Just my opinion.

If it were left to a state matter, he would prob get 1-5 years PER dog killed.

While I agree this could be a mild misallocation of resources for the fbi, the alternative seems a bit worse.

So we should let other crimes go unpunished until all the murders are solved?
