We have a slew of good players; highly qualified coaches and a **** load of fans who don't have a clue about either.

And some fans that think they know everything, but really don't know as much as they think they do....A good defense makes adjustments. Ours doesn't.

One only needs to look at the second half of the Seattle Game.

Defense held them to a field goal attempt when it counted. I suppose you can argue that it should not have come down to that, but it did and it counted. Cards win!

I agree (especially with the win) but Smug Petey blew it settling for the FG. Perfect ending.

Who are the highly qualified coaches on D and STs? Simply because they have the jobsdoesnt make them highly qualified.

Or are you Of the belief that fans can never question coaches? And if so, what is the point of a message board besides just a slew of thumbs up emoticons?

Apparently Peterson went to Betcher and told him stop overthinking and get back to basics.

I doubt but if nkemdiche keep improving and we find a great inside linebacker then this defense is one of the 3 best unit in the nfl

Yeah I disagree 100%. This roster is terrible, especially WR and OL, and half the team is in street clothes. Snatching 8-8 out of this mess took some ability. We will miss Arians if he leaves.

Did anyone else pay attention to: Arians say that there were 25 players on yesterday's roster, NOT with the team after training camp?...They didn't have the ability to run short yardage or goal line formations? They barely had enough players for victory formation?

IMO, this was BAs best season of coaching. The defense wasn't the problem...ST returns and blocking were an issue, but you can't blame more missed kicks on the coaches.

Some complained about Bettcher in the 2nd half yesterday. Let me ask you, when was the last time you saw Seattle NOT make a run at anybody at home, in the 2nd half? It's a constant narrative for RW and the team...and newsflash: they usually come back and win!

Arians has been the best Cards coach I've witnessed. Whis would have gone 3-13 with this team, the last 2 years.

We should not be too quick, to send someone out to pasture!

PS: I think some of the emotional hugs to Moore, Pratt and others, were because some of those guys are actually hanging it up. BA may not have made up his mind, just yet, but they have. Anyway, we'll all know soon enough.

I just watched that presser on the Cards site. 25 guys not even IN CAMP and winning is amazing.

But I'm more concerned with PP's tackling and Bettcher's lack of adjustments :doi:.

What adjustments do you want to make after giving up 41 yards in the first half?

adjusat to give up only 41 yards in the second half... then i'd be impressed... either they adjusted and ate our lunch and should have won .. OR ... or what ? we obviously DID not adjust to their adjust ... that is the chess game, they played chess, we played checkers, and we won because they had a well known choker kicking the ball ... we didn't win... we lucked out ... but I'll take any W against those a holes.

This team has a lot of good and a lot of bad both in player personnel and coaching. We all agree that Jones is horrible but the personnel on special teams are either stupid or simply unskilled. I mean, how many times a game do we not only have a block in the back call but it's usually nowhere near the ball carrier? I mean, I played on my high school special teams for 4 years and I had never played the game before high school but I knew that when you're going to block someone and you see the back of their head, you do not block them. It's not rocket science. That comes down to coaching too. You just don't send 11 guys onto the field and say, "when Peterson(or whomever) catches the ball, just block the first wrong colored jersey you see". You have to set lanes, returns, blocking schemes, and first and foremost, tell your players to not touch the opposing player if you can read his name. It's maddening but I digress.

As for halftime adjustments, yes the defense scouted and played Seattle very well in the first half. The adjustments come after their first drive. They were obviously doing something different that apparently had Bettcher completely baffled because Seattle moved the ball far too easily in the 2nd half. Even on the final drive, you simply do not let your opposition to go what, 40 yards in 18 seconds.

This IMO is so wrong, how to do adjust to something if you don't know what it is they're going to change? I do agree that it's a chess match, but you can't go into that knowing how the game will be played out. It seemed to me Betch had an excellent game plan knowing their tendencies, but once they changed their approach we needed time to see what they are doing to adjust.

The periphery of our defense is solid, with Peterson, Baker, Golden, Jones..... where we could use help is the interior.
Need NT, ILB to be difference makers and not just bodies.

I've been hopeful they give up on making Bucannon a full time inside backer and make the dollar backer someone that is based out of the SS position and not
the middle linebacker spot.
