"I also think that the Bus can be contained, as well as "Famous" Amos Zeroue. The Pitt offensive line is just not that good right now. Push up the middle from the tackles is imperative, because Calvin pace might have a hard time dealing with Alan Faneca."

I agree, but I also believe that the Cards can win this game in 4th quarter if they wore down the Steelers D. This will give Blake, Boldin, Jones, Johnson, Gilmore a better shot at hooking up in the end zone.

This is going to be a hard fought, come-from-behind win for the Cards.

Time of possession could be a key factor in this game.

To me, odds say this should be a tough, hard fought game to the end, and I would expec the Cards to be the survivor.
Primary Reason: The Cards offensive line
...and the confidence factor.
But if the Cards get a couple of early breaks and can score a couple of early TD's, or Shipp wrecks them, look for this to get ugly, and the Cards win handily.

Looking at the Steelers right now, I see literally a carbon-copy of what the Cards have already been though...too many times in the past.
There IS talent on the team, but their offense just isn't all that effective because of their O-line situation.

Their offense can't stay on the field with any consistancy.
Sound familiar?
Why?
Because the running game is suffering from the O-line play...its not the Bus or Famous Amos.
Also because of that, Maddox isn't getting the time to throw.

You can't go deep, if you don't have time to throw. Sound familiar again?

Their one hope is to beat us like the Rams did....with the short, quick passes. But that may get them beyond 3 and out a few times, but they aren't going to score big on us.

I look for the Cards passing game to win this one. If the running game does.....then obviously the Steelers are in big, big trouble.

Arlen Harris and the Rams got over a 100 yards on them and so did Shaun Alexander, the past 2 weeks.....And I rate the Cards runnig game right now, far superior to either of those.
I don't think it's a given that they can stop the Cards running game at all.

Like I said, If the Cards are able to run on them....Steeler fans are going to soak their crying towels early.

I think the Defense will get enough pressure on Maddox to prevent the long balls. They won't run that effectively on us.
The Passing game gets this one done for the offense.

Tangodnzr good asessment.

Arlan Harris had 81 yards on 34 carries.

Alexander had 48 yards on 20 carries. Maurice Morris did break a 43 yard run early on.

You haven't seen the Steelers swarm around the running backs. The Steelers weren't number #1 the last 2 years in run defense for nothing.

I prefer the Cards to run since the Steelers face good running backs week in and week out and that is going against there strength.

Blake knows how to make big plays. He has a tendency to make mistakes when behind. So if the Cards have success running,Blake definetely can open it up with play action passes.

This game scares the hell out of me. The Steelers NEED a win and are playing at home. Cards haven't had much sucess on the road and are going up against a stingy D that is good against the run.

I had a dream abouyt this weeks game last night. It was very detailed and exciting dream. I don't remember much about it now, but I do recall the Cards won 35-28. There was a late T.O. by the cards that I thought did us in, but somehow we overcame it and scored the game winning TD with less than a minute left on the clock.

See, I disagree with you 100%. Ever since the bye week, we have seen this cardinal team (especially the defense) go all out. When was the last time you saw the cards defense play a lot of man to man and go full force on the Blitz? When I was watching the cincy game i said "man, the cards are finally playing to WIN and not to lose, and I love it!". It's been exciting watching the cards since the bye. I've always been excited about games, but Now it's increased 10 times over. I'm counting the minutes on the clock untill kickoff.

Don't peg the opffense as conservative just because they are runnig the ball a lot and having great success. A lot of teams would KILL to be able to run the ball and win. Thats the bread and butter of the NFL. If a team is running the ball well, and the other team can't stop it, it's not conservative to continue doing what is working well. It's just smart.

Steelers 24

Cards 17

I am pleased that I have been wrong the last two weeks.

However, I still think that some team is going to stuff the run, and dare the Cards to beat them through the air. I don't know that the Cards can do so. The Cards have been moving the ball well between the 20's, but their conservative offensive approach inside the 20 makes them predictable in the "red zone" IMO. They seem to be content to kick field goals, and depend upon their defense. Sooner or later, that may come up and bite them.

But, in their defense, their D has been playing well.

I am just not ready to predict wins against any team.

Is everything
My heart leans to the Cards but my head can't predict a road victory till I see them win one. A close game with both teams struggling in the red zone. I'll take the under and I think the Cards beat the spread.

Great post I agree that if we can run this weekend we should, I doubt we can because of the Steelers D only but if we can go for it.

I love watching this team now too it is as if they figured out heck I am gonna get fired if I don't win anyway so let's just play to win and not play to avoid losing.

It's fun and refreshing and if any team deserves a long happy run it is this team. I hope they can do it.

An offense where you run the ball a lot and don't throw (not to mention complete) a lot of deep passes is by definition conservative. We don't even run a lot of high-risk, high-reward running plays, like tosses to the outside or runs where the line pulls one way and the back runs "against the grain". That's conservative. On defense, are we being more creative? Yes, the last two weeks. But I think that this is an opponent that our coaches and players are both taking too seriously and not seriously enough. Despite what everyone's saying, in the press it seems like there's a lot of satisfaction going around about the way this team's been playing, and that's not the response they should be having. They've one the last two games (games that, seeing them, they dominated) by a total of six points. That's nothing to be satisfied about. On the other hand, I think that this team is going to go into the cold of Heinz field and be intimidated. This isn't a half-empty Trans-World Dome (or whatever it is now) or a Ford Field just looking for something positive. This is a team steeped in winning tradition and pissed because of where their at, and so are the fans.

I think that Mac chokes on this one. You don't NEED to blitz on the Steelers. If we do, all the time, we're going to get killed by short passes to Ward and Randle El. I think that if we try to run the ball all first quarter, the score's going to be 21-0 or 17-0, and we can't come back from that margin right now. This offense is going to have to come out with the passing game, forget that they only have 2 NFL starting-quality wideouts, and huck the ball until the Steelers are worried. If you come out in the I-form and run the ball to establish it early, this game's going to be over before the end of the first half.

What's happened the last two weeks against overrated teams doesn't really matter against a good team that's underperforming. This is the start of a new season for the Steelers, too, and they know how to win. I also doubt whether this coaching staff can be as aggressive on the road as it is at home. I doubt it.

Interesting.

Kerouac's take is fundamentally pretty similar to Skkorps. I wonder what Bellydnzr had to say about Jim's analysis?

Yeah, and eggs are pretty similar to chickens, and Rhubarb is pretty similar to onions...they both are plants. In fact, everyone's post is similar...they all use words...or think they do.

It was inspired by Kerouac's post. Obviously there are a few items here that seem to go right over some of y'all's heads.
It's called sarcasm Cheesy(but of course you know that)
....It is commonly accepted that language and thought processes are essentially one and the same. Poor and lazy use of language generally are manifestations of likewise thought processes. Maybe some of you didn't even notice Kerouac's deficiences there. That's what I was mocking.

so - how is mocking someone's grammar instead of acknolwegding their football take considered constructive - or is that the type of bigoted/contradictory statements and child-like behvaior that I like to use? You are truly a sad human being.
