New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs won't ask to take Ja’Lynn Polk’s number. Polk wears the No. 1 jersey, which is the same number that Diggs wore with the Houston Texans last season.

Diggs is looking to be a veteran presence in a Patriots receivers room that needs experience. Meanwhile, Polk is looking to bounce back after a tough rookie campaign. All told, the Washington product recorded 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

His 2024 campaign started strong with a season-opening touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he never found the consistency the Patriots hoped he'd show for the team as a rookie right out of the gates.

“Nah we ont do that & young boy boutta have a good year … believe in em," Diggs responded on Instagram, when asked if he'd wear No. 1 for the Patriots.

It doesn’t sound like new #Patriots WR Stefon Diggs plans on taking Ja’Lynn Polk’s No. 1 jersey:

The hope is that Diggs can impact the Patriots both on and off the field. Yes, he's a reception machine who has racked up 1,000 yards receiving in six of the last seven seasons.

However, his greatest impact could come in the locker room with talented young players, like Polk, Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte. Diggs' ability to help get the most out of them would go a long way for the Patriots.
