Sterns Praise Of Duncan

Wasnt sure where to post this so I just made a new thread..

Did anyone see Stern yesterday before the draft lottery when asked about Duncan? His face lit up so much Im surprised oil tankers didnt crash on his face thinking it was a lighthouse beacon.. He couldnt stop gushing about Duncan like he was his own son and saying he is one of the greatest of all time..

Made me sick..

Ya, Im convinced, the NBA is just clear cut rules..

I'm confused, what is your problem with Stern saying Duncan is one of the greatest of all time? Is he not? Haven't his accomplishments proven this much? and seriously, the conspiracy angle is baseless. Everyone knows the Suns draw ten times more ratings than the Spurs, so what exactly does Stern gain from favoring his "son" Duncan over the Suns?

And why would the Spurs not have been favored last year as well, if Stern is rigging things? The media called out the NBA for the poor officiating in the Mavs/Spurs series to an even greater extent than they're calling out Stern for the suspensions in the Suns/Spurs series this year. So logic says that Stern loves the Mavs, but then why were they ousted in the first round this year? It makes no sense...unless.

Unless there is no conspiracy. Unless Stern is just doing his job. Unless the Spurs lost fair and square last year and the Suns this year.

Then it makes sense.

The Spurs did lose fair and square last year, it hurt like hell, but we lost because the Mavs played better, simple as that.

Plus I never seen Stern light up as much when asked about Jordan in his hay day as he did towards Duncan.. And Jordan made Stern who he is today..

Jordan brought the spectre of gambling into the NBA by the time of his first retirement - a HUGE no-no in the eyes of a commish. I don't think anything scares the crap out of a commish than it's BIGGEST asset being involved in HUGE gambling sums.

Duncan's pretty much as vanilla off the court as he is on it.

But if the league is starting to get the sense that he's reconsidering it, that might explain why they've been going so far out of their way to kiss his ass.

In my opinion while duncan is a very great player, he is nowhere near one of the greatest. He gets too much of the baby treatment from the refs and that is exactly where the "fiba sucks" comments came from when he wasn't getting the star treatment bailed out by the refs.

You see amare go up for dunks/layups and constantly it looks like it was possible he got hit but without seeing everything you cannnot be sure. These are the times no foul is called and you see amare complain and sometimes get a technical.

Duncan, on the other hand, will get a foul called 99.9% of the time if there is even a distant, speck of a remote chance there was contact.

The same thing would just happen if we sent duncan to fiba again. I don't want to be embarrased again in fiba like I was back then. Looking like a giant crybaby to the entire international basketball community. That was horrible.

This sort of treatment is what bothers me the most. Duncan and Bowen were allowed to dance on and off the court in game 4 when they thought there was an altercation... no problem. If the rules are so strictly enforced these two players should have been suspended as well as Amare and Diaw. But this is not my argument. IMO Duncan could have run twenty feet from the bench in game 4 and not got suspended. On this I firmly believe. Stern would have forgotten the suspensions if Duncan were involved.

Not entirely correct. Kurt rarely got called foul on TD unless he really hacked. That's just the nuaces Amare hasn't learnt yet. But you are right that TD was let go way too much contact without foul call on him in NBA.

Actually, the officiating was slanted towards the Mavs in the first round. There suckiness just overcame the officiating.
