MJ interviewed Steve Loney this morning, pretty good interview. I thought somebody would have put it up already, I'm going to try and tell the main points from memory.
- Working hard on technique, footwork and communication. They aren't hitting yet, but he thinks they've come a long way.
- "Tore the rearview mirror off the car." They aren't talking about last year. Loney doesn't care about people's reps, he only cares about the experiences he is having with those players.
- Talked about protections and schemes. Said there is a lot of good ones out there, they just need to find the right one that fits what they are trying to do. He never asks players to do something they can't do. Is getting on the same page with Rowen.
- Is pleased with Lutui, Brown and Stepanivich (sp.) Brown coming into his own. Lutui is adjusting to the tempo of the NFL, but says he hits the bags with a nice base. Step is finally healthy.
- Wants to improve C/QB communication. If those two are on the same page, will improve Defense recognition, and they'll pick up the Hot Reads, negating blitzes.
- Not a yeller, but commands respect from his players. He has loads of experience. I personally, think the Line will respond real well to his style.
