No, Stephan Taylor is 5 times better than him now lol

I'm not so sure about that one. I havent seen anything from stepfan that tells me we can rely on him in key situations.

he played OK in some of our worst games but thats about all I credit him for so far.

Jackson is a veteran back, and the value of that shouldn't be underestimated. It would be good to have him around our young backs, let his years of experience and poise wear off on some of them hopefully.

I would really like that signing. I think we can all agree he's not the Steven Jackson we remember, but realistically I could see him getting 6 - 7 carries a game and a reception here and there for around 600 yards from scrimmage, but most importantly being a mentor for D. Johnson. I think a veteran like him in the locker room would be a real asset to what is mostly a young offense outside of Fitz.

Behind our O'line if there were a game where injuries put him in a position where we needed him to be theman for a week, I could see him doing what he did to us in ATL last year

Another interesting thing I noticed

2014 S.Jackson
190 carries
707 Yards
3.72 YPC

2014 A.Ellington
202 carries
606 Yards
3.28 YPC

Not to say that he's anywhere near that back that Ellington is, but I think he can be more productive than we'd assuming based on his age. He would have been out leading rusher last year.

Jackson wouldn't be competing with Ellington or Johnson, he would be competing with Taylor for the short yardage role. I'll take a 6'2" 236lb Jackson over a 5'9" 214lb Taylor any day

I think he is serious.

Actually, I am pretty serious. My brother is a Falcons fan and he laughed every time Jackson got the ball because it was like he was running in slow motion... apparently the Falcon organization did not care to laugh and that is why he is available :)

12-4 Rams draft Steven Jackson and I don't believe they've had a winning season since.
13-3 Falcons sign Steven Jackson and they haven't had a winning season since.

Pass.

Steven Jackson is over the hill. He was a very good back when he played for the Rams. Age and injuries caught up to him.

He might be over the hill, but on 3rd and 1, he's a million times better than anyone we have. A big back in goal line and short yardage situations could be a great role for him.

Yes, but I think with his years in the league, his vet minimum salary will be much greater than what Taylor can, or can't do, at a much lower cost.

It would be something like 500k vs. about a million for SJ in real money. However, with vet salary cap rules benefit, SJ would only have about a 500k cap hit.

If we were any other team in the NFC west I would jump all over it, sadly... we can't play ourselves, and that's where a lot of his (late) success was.

Don't know if it will be Stephen Jackson, but I wouldn't be surprised if the team signs a "between the tackles" type of RB as we get closer to TC. I thought that David Johson was that guy, but most things I've read, that while they are positive, he's said not to be that type of RB.

Taylor is maybe a 4th or 5th best option RB. He's shown dazzling flashes of nothing special both years he's been here.

Cards drafted David Johnson to fill the big back role. IMO they are not going to add another RB.

A closer look at the Cardinals' seven picks: Round 3/86 - David Johnson, RB, 6-0, 224, Northern Iowa...The Cardinals filled another need with a big, physical runner who should help them in short-yardage situations. But Johnson also has decent speed (4.5 at the combine) and is an excellent receiver. He should be an effective complement to Andre Ellington. - The Sports Xchange

Yep. Johnson has size, speed, and incredible hands. Most importantly

NO INJURY HISTORY (

How amazing would it to have a healthy starting RB on a regular basis?

The name still conjures memories when he was at his best. It's hard to believe he would not be a good goal line back. I wish the Cardinals had Steven Jackson in his prime.

I thought I read somewhere that he wants to go back and retire a Ram, like what Adub did?

If that's the case, it's hard to see him going to the rival for league minimum. Imagine if Adub went to the Seahawks for a year for leage min. "Yeah, we love you Adub. But the Seahawks? Really?"
