Jason La Canfora is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals are in contract negotiations with Eagle LB Stewart Bradley.

This would be a good signing and bolster the ILB corps.

Not my first choice, but I agree.

Some one referred to him as being from the "dust bin" or something equally dismissive, but, when healthy he was damn good in the Philly middle.

He's the type of 250/260lb "thumper", we need to replace Hayes.

I know he's had some injury problems but like you said when healthy he could bring it. Could be a good 1st/2nd down run LB. Keep his snaps limited and he could be very productive.

If healthy the key words....here's what Lindey's says:

Middle linebacker Stewart Bradley looked like an emerging pro bowler in 2008...he was big and fast and athletic.....but he tore his ACL in 09 and wasn't the same player last year.

That probably means the Cards won't sign Stephen Tulloch . Why do I even get my hopes up that they'll ever sign a good player in his prime. Name once when the Cards have EVER signed a FA that doesn't have question marks. They're either injury prone, old, or no one else wants them.
Tulloch is the one guy that can make this defense instantly better. But no, we're brining in a concussed, injury prone castoff that Philly doesn't want. Think about, Philly needs LB's and they're letting the guy walk.

B-train!!!

(and Philly was very happy with Chaney's work in the middle when he took over.)

Most players after tearing their ACL take about a year to fully get back into form, I like that they are pursuing Bradley

he was old and not in demand. I'm talking about a guy who isn't looking for his last contract and can still play. You know, a guy like Stephen Tulloch or James Jones.

B-train was 28 when he signed and the Cards got six years of good service out him, which included a Pro Bowl.

Bradley is 27.

"On January 6, 2009, Bradley was named to the 2008 Sports Illustrated All-Pro team in only his first year as a starter"

P.S. I'd also like Tulloch and Jones.

If healthy, he can fill the bill - not only as a big, tough guy who can fill the Hayes role on the field, but also as a leader in the lockerroom.

You never know about knees. They often do take a year to heal (if, in fact, they do heal).

If.

(Note - The way Urban seems to put it: It's more like we're "in the hunt" for Bradely rather than actually drawing up papers.

there are a couple question marks on Bradley...the ACL, which is less a fear these days than in the past,...and the concussion...which is a legitimate fear.....but if both those pan out, we are looking at a young LB who was on his way to being very good for Philly, possibly even several pro bowls type good...............and the absolute BEST part about him is that he can play any of the LB positions.......which allows flexibility.
Over all Bradley will be a pretty good signing,....not as sexy a choice as some of the others, which will make some fans here cry,...but (assuming health) a solid young LB who could anchor our corp for the next 6 or 8 years....and due to those question marks, he will come quite a bit cheaper than market value.

Agree with this. Does get frustrating as Tulloch is a tackling machine.

It normally takes almost 2 years to fully recover from ACL's. I think it's worth the risk to sign this guy. IF healthy, he can be a monster in the middle.

I don't really care to be honest, but anyone who is interested in reading some more thoughts on Stewart Bradley can check this thread out.

I am obviously a HUGE fan of this move, if it happens.

I think if Bradley's body holds up he will be the start SILB next year, and hopefully for some time to come. As stated he is 6'4" 260 lbs and 27 years old.

I think he will be perfect for our scheme. He will NOT need to play every snap which is even better, IMO

your right PACards...after so many years of seeing Iron Man Boldin have things like his jaw knocked off and coming back so soon, I tend to speed up healing times LOL.

Duane Starks, Rod Hood, Bryant McFadden, Al Johnson, Oliver Ross, Pete Kendall. Guys that leave their old teams when they don't have question marks generally aren't as good as you think they are.

The guys who end up as steals are guy that have question marks that your coaching staff turns into exclamation points. Bertrand Berry was a one-year wonder. Kurt Warner was shell-shocked. Chike Okeafor didn't have a position.

Cosign.

If he's healthy, i'll go as far as saying he would be a better fit for our defense than Tulloch.

Bradley probably can be had on the cheap with the potential to produce some fairly big numbers.

Signing Bradley doesn't necessarily mean we are out of the running for Tolluck. If I could sign Bradley cheap and still sign Tolluck, I would have incredible depth at LB.

I feel pretty sure should they reach an agreement with Bradley it would be conditional on his passing a physical. If he passes with flying colors we just got a good LB cheap.

There has been so much complaining about not having a good run stuffer inside and here we may get a steal on one and many are yelling about how its such a poor idea.

With guys like Bradley you take a chance and if it works out great, if it doesn't you took a gamble without any great loss.
