PFT is saying that we are $23 MM under as of today. I suspect that Fitz's restructuring will eat into this but would anticipate some room to sign one or two others.

I'm really cooling on Braylon Edwards

I have no reason to believe it is not true but it just doesnt sound right for some reason.

I mean after the cuts, taking DRC away, and adding in the rookie allotment we were still at 85 mill. That is 35 mill under the cap.

After spending money on Kolb, King, Heap, Colledge, Holliday, Bradley, Lutui, Womack, Eason, Stuckey, Marshall we only spent 12 mill of that 35 mill left in cap space?

Either we got great deals on those guys, did some masterful contract work, or severly backloaded some of those deals. Which anyone of those three or a combo of all three things could very well be the case.

Fitz is alredy making 14 mill towards the cap, a extension probably wont bump that up to much, unless they fill the need to front load it heavily.

But after making all of these moves and we are still that much under the cap I hope the Cards continue the proactivity and the foresight to start extending other guys besides just Fitz. Campbell comes immediatly to mind.

doesn't Levi have a big cap hit coming too. They should redo his contract as well.

Redo would have to come with an extension. I guess we will find out just how much the staff believes in him come mid season when we have to be at or close to the cap and we still have over 10 mill in cap space.

Teams don't have to spend to the cap floor until 2013, so it could be that we're done.

Yoy lost me on this one. We have to spend 99% this year and next year. In 2013, it goes down to 95 % i think or maybe lower.

I'll look it up when I'm in front of my computer, but it's what they've been saying on the espn podcasts. And what's more, they've been saying it as a point if clarification when they talk about the new cap.

But, that's my only source, so I'll see what I can find.

You sure? I thought every team had to get to 99% each year for the first two years.

The league as a whole has to spend to 99% this year and next, not individual teams. Teams can also spend 3% over the cap. So, as long as teams like Washington and Dallas spend 3% over the cap, other teams like the Bengals can spend 96% of the cap and be just fine within the rules.

I think we are rounding third, heading home with a Larry score to seal the deal. I'm good with it too, the players we picked up and their contracts have blown me away. Then again it's Kerry Rhodes B-day and he was talking about a receiver last night for his B-day present.

I saw Aubrayo Franklin, 49ers NT is still available... Still listed in the top 10 FA available...

Free agent NT Aubrayo Franklin will "visit" with 49ers coaches Monday.
Franklin has played for the Niners for four years, but he may want to get a better read on the new coaching staff. The best nose tackle on the market has surprisingly received little known interest, so a reunion with San Fran is now possible.

How is it enforced to get to an overall 99%?

I'm thinking whips and chains might enter the picture. Seriously though, I'd guess it's done after the fact through penalties as it can't really be gauged until everyone is done spending. I'd also suspect those penalties go to the players one way or the other.

Bally’s Sports needs to go away
What I was reading from Clayton, and I could have understood it wrong, but I don't think so...

The minimum does not start until 2013. After 2013 each team must spend at least 90% of their cap. The league must spend 99% of cap space.

How that is enforced, I do not know.

I heard something about a "true up" at the end of the season...do not have a source, just something I heard last week while trying to follow all that crap. Didn't hear how they would do a true up...maybe additional bonuses, I dunno.

They've spoken of some mechanism to return the difference to the players, but don't know the details.

If I read correctly, it's 99% across the league for this season and next. 95% over the rest of the agreement. No floor this year (and possibly next) and 90% beyond that point.

This is incorrect and a common misconception.

The League as a whole has to be within 99%. Every team was given an extra $3 million dollars to go over the cap with this year and next year. This is why you are seeing a lot of two year deals. This is also why some teams didn't have to purge a bunch of talent on their rosters.

For every team that goes over the cap, a team can be under by that amount as well.

Teams that are way under the cap are basically expecting several teams to spend over.

Saying the league has to spend 99% of cash does not mean that 99% of the combined cap of the 32 teams has to be spent. The league can put money into pensions and other player related things that don't necessarily show up on anyone's cap and count it as spending 99% of cash.
