And... that's where we are the worst. Your D can suck and you don't get people killed... The offensive line makes your QB look better and your running back and your receivers for that matter since corners can only cover for so long.... The first Carr probably had his whole future changed because his Oline got him killed. I really don't want that for Rosen. I don't think any running back or qb would have survived last night... We're wasting one of the best running backs best years (which I seriously think could hurt his chances of one day being in the hall of fame) and Rosen I believe could one day be great, but we may never know if he is getting killed behind our line.. We need to shore up our Oline at all costs in the off season and the Draft.. protect Rosen. Keep the ball for a long time. This will help the D even if we don't invest in them as much...

Cole is still a rookie and while not playing particularly well, has avoided costly mistakes for the most part. Other than him, I could see us starting 4 new players on the OL.

Humphries hasn't lived up to being a 1st rounder by any means, but when you rate all 5 starters we field he's probably still the most consistent. Getting beat by Von Miller late in a blowout game can happen to any LT. Until they started to move Miller around, I think Humphries did quite well. Picking up the option on him will probably be necessary since even average blindside protectors never tend to hit free agency, and our interior needs much more of an upgrade.

Pugh has been much more disappointing than Iupati. Out of the latter we at least got dominant run blocking early on, even if he's been washed up for the last couple of years. Pugh came in on a big deal and looked worse than what we had prior to him. Not sure if we can get out of his contract, but he is by far the biggest disappointment.

Fat Andre Smith has been playing at backup level for a decade and that's just what he's doing for us. No surprise here.

We have to draft OL early, mid and late, so we come out of the draft with players who have the talent to start on the OL. In addition, we must go after one big money guard again since there's no hope for Pugh imo, and Iupati gone anyway. That's the absolute minimum to give Rosen a fair chance in year two.

Just okay at LT-- but would bring plus athleticism and pass blocking at guard. wouldn't be the first guy drafted at tackle to meh results, but an outstanding guard

By all accounts Pugh was a very good guard but a terrible OT. Only issue was back injury which was supposedly okay now.

Yeah... lamenting the signing of Pugh now seems like 20/20 hindsight. He was the #1 rated LG in 2016 by PFF. He had the back injury in 2017 but was said to be recovered from that, and hasn't had problems with it this season. This season he broke his hand - but that's the first broken bone of his NFL career so there's no reason Keim should've anticipated it.

He was widely considered the second-best available guard, he's young, and the #1 guy on the market this past offseason, Norwell, got a 1/3 bigger contract with 3x as much guaranteed money ($30M!!), has been stinking it up in Jacksonville, and is now dealing with a foot injury of his own.

This team has been trying to build a decent offensive line for decades. Not since the days of Dobler, Dierdorf, Young, Banks, Finnie has this team had a great offensive line. And given the amount of high draft picks we've spent on linemen who were busts, I simply don't trust this team to draft the right people.

Not hindsight, posted 5/1/18 I didn’t mourn the loss of Veldheer & Watford. They were mediocre at best. If Pugh holds up physically (a very big if) he’s an upgrade.

I called them the Eggshell Line on an August 10th post. As early as 9/14 I called him mediocre.

Keep in mind the Giants number 1 priority in free agency was the OL and they let Pugh walk. I’d call that a red flag. He knows him better. The Giants signed their starting RG in 2018 free agency. You’ve all seen him play. Good signing to a big dollar contract? I’d be okay with a Prove It contract, but that wasn’t what he signed. You can’t sign injury prone players to this type of contract.
