COLUMBIA, Md. -- Los Angeles Clippers center and former University of Maryland standout Chris Wilcox was arrested Monday after police found a gun in his car during a traffic stop.

Wilcox, 22, was pulled over about 1 a.m. after a Howard County police officer saw his silver BMW weaving on southbound Rt. 29 in Columbia.

A canine team in the area responded to assist. The officer asked Wilcox if there was anything inside the vehicle that would cause the dog to react. Wilcox said there was a gun inside.

The officer found a .357 revolver in a pocket behind the front passenger seat. The officer checked the weapon and found one spent casing inside. Live ammunition and two spent shell casings were also found inside the car.

Wilcox could not provide documentation that the gun belonged to him or that he had a permit to carry the weapon. He was charged with transporting a handgun in a vehicle and released on his own recognizance. A passenger was not charged.

Wilcox, of Laurel, Md., was selected by the Clippers in the first round of the 2002 NBA draft.

was he drunk? Was he firing it at someone? Did he even lie about having it?

I thought this was gonna much worse - but simply having a gun withotu registration isn't all that scary in comparison to biger problems athletes seem to have.

That being said - I don't know if Wilxoc would help us anyway - is he even a FA?

Maybe we could acquire him for something simpler like Barbosa now.
