Andrew Guindon scores the game-winner at 2:01 of overtime.The Arizona Sting defeated the Toronto Rock, 14-13, in a thrilling overtime win in front of 17,527 fans at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday evening. The game was a rematch of the 2005 Champion's Cup Final, and marks the first time in franchise history that the Sting have defeated the Rock. Andrew Guindon scored his only goal of the game at 2:01 of overtime to seal the win.

Jonas Derks led the Sting with four goals and four assists to lead the Sting. Peter Veltman and Pat Maddalena each scored two goals. Mike Miron, who made 39 saves in the victory, also recorded two assists to help his team offensively.

Arizona celebrates after their first victory over Toronto in franchise history.Toronto was led by Colin Doyle, who scored three goals and three assists. Blaine Manning (2 goals, 4 assists), Rusty Kruger (2 goals, 1 assist), Aaron Wilson (2 goals, 1 assist) and Matt Shearer (2 goals) also contributed on offense. Bob Watson recorded 34 saves in the loss.

Phil Sanderson drew first blood for the Rock after nearly seven minutes of scoreless action, as the Rock took a 2-1 lead after a defensive first quarter. However, Arizona exploded in the second quarter, outscoring the Rock 8-1, including a Pat Maddalena goal with only two seconds left in the half.

The Rock scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter to tie the score at 11-11, including two straight goals from Rusty Kruger. Jonas Derks answered back, ending a 17-minute scoring drought for the Sting, and the teams traded goals as Arizona clinged to a one-goal lead.

Both teams are in action next weekend. Arizona plays host to Portland on Friday, January 13th, while Toronto plays two games of their own. They will host Buffalo on the 13th and than travel to play the Knighthawks in Rochester on Saturday, January 14th.
