I'm not surprised that Wells got traded. It was inevitable, but in spite of his problems I expected he would have fetched more. Wes is strictly a journeyman. But at lease his statistics are kept by the NBA and not Portland PD.

Wouldn't Person be a nice complement to Marbury? I don't know much about his defense but I know this guy can shoot the lights out. It'd be nice to have a player like him who can consistently hit jump shots while not needing to dominate the ball.

Actually, a much better player would be Bruce Bowen. He's a guy who can defend the other team's best player and a very good spot up shooter. I don't see the Spurs letting go of him anytime soon though...

I know Wesley person is one of the best outside shooters in the NBA, but what has happened to his fg% this season? So far he is making Joe Johnson look like his older brother, the Rifleman. Thus far Wesley person is shooting just 30.8% from the field and 25.6% from beyond the arc.

Isn't this the last year of Person's rather lucrative contract?

Wes Person would be PERFECT for the Suns. Too bad it's not gonna happen.

He's the last good defensive player the Spurs have, and one of the last spot-up shooter as well.

For Suns fans, you can now see how much just good pure outside shooters are for a team. Last year, the Spurs had Ginobli, Steve Smith, Steve Kerr, Danny "the" Ferry", and Stephen Jackson. Kerr and Ferry retired, and they let Smith and Jackson go. Now, I'm not going to say that David Robinson's being replaced by, try not to laugh, Rasho Nesterivic, but right now teams double and tripple Tim Duncan, and he doesn't have half the guys to kick it out to.

What are you talking about? The Spurs?? What does that have to do with the Grizzlies and the Blazers?

Somebody else mentioned how it would be great if the Suns could get Bruce Bowen.

I do think that was a good trade for POR.

I just do not understand Jerry West. What is he doing? Does he want to build a 5th West All-Star team or what?

Anyway his team seems to be improving and that counts.

Jerry is gambling that Hubie Brown is a miracle worker. Wells is an extrordinary talent who is a total idiot. Maybe getting him out of the rats nest that the jail blazers have turned into will turn him around. Sure its a risk, but it was clear that Person was not going to be re-signed anyway.

At worst, West gets stuck with Bonzi's $8 million for one more year. At best, he gets a player who can be a dominate player when he puts his mind to it.

This is not the kind of trade the Suns would do. They have little patience with troubled players, especially after the drug scandles of the late '80's. One bad apple can screw up an entire team. But a team that can turn around a great talent can jump their competativeness very quickly.

A huge gamble.
