Stoudemire upbeat after exam

A week ago, Amaré Stoudemire had one of his rougher days of this yo-yo comeback.

Stoudemire was so worried about how his right knee (not the microfracture surgery-repaired left knee) felt that he underwent another magnetic resonance imaging exam.

There was no swelling and the MRI was negative.

Stoudemire's optimism and bounce returned this week. He worked out Sunday and Monday, went to a star-studded Nike shoot Monday in Ontario, Calif., and played (wearing a sleeve on his right knee) in the Suns' pickup games Tuesday.

"That's it?" Stoudemire said after the final game.

Stoudemire complimented the Suns athletic trainers' work with him and said he would come off the bench if that were the staff's wish.

The past week surely will not be his last roller-coaster ride.

"That's the frustrating part about being injured," Stoudemire said. "You've got great days and you've got some days that aren't that good. That's when you've got a tendency to get a little frustrated and get upset about the workout and think it's not what you're supposed to be doing."

His Nike experience Monday helped Stoudemire's mind-set. He was part of an elite collection of players for Nike's campaign to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Air Force 1s with a new version. Stoudemire's signature shoe, the Stat 1, is also on the way.

Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Rasheed Wallace and Jermaine O'Neal participated in the shoot.

Single tickets to be sold

Single-game tickets for Suns regular-season home games will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. The organization is warning fans that those single-game tickets are expected to sell out for many of the games.

Ticket buyers are encouraged to use Suns.com for purchases, but they can also call 1-800-462-2849 or go to the arena box office or any Ticketmaster outlet.

Free throw

Free-agent forward Jeff Varem, a Nigeria native, has yet to get the visa he needs to allow him to work in Europe, but the Suns are optimistic he will be able to acquire it and join Phoenix for camp in Italy.

That's encouraging. If Stoudemire can come back strong I think we may finally get that championship. :)

I actually found it discouraging. There was hints of it before but this makes it crystal clear. Stoudemire's psyche was damaged far more than his knee ever was.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but how many MRI's is he going to need throughout the season just to confirm that everything is still ok?

Ditto. The fact that he was freaked out enough by his right knee to get the MRI either means that it is still giving him problems or his psyche is whacked or both. Let's hope he gets through this.

I was emailed a Suns camp preview. See link below.

I must admit after reading the comments by D'Antoni in the "one-on-one" section, especially the last paragraph, I'm feeling the Suns may need some more insurance at the Center position.

However, I am also known for worrying too much. I'm just not putting a high expectation level for Amare until he proves he is ready to play again.

I have not heard if he has even seen Amare work out. He hasn't said if he has. Right now I think he's just trying avoid overly high expectations.

Quite possibly George. However, D'Antoni's comments, especially in that last answer, should not be readily discounted either. I do think D'Antoni does fully know Amare's status.

none of these articles, good or bad et me excited - every single one seems to contradict the other.

the time's almost here - we'll be able to judge for ourselves what he looks like pretty soon - I ain't gonna get worked up about it.

Come on Cheesebeef. Where's the fire and brimstone. :)

Truthfully, I agree with you. It will soon be time to put the cards on the table. However, I do hope D'Antoni has a big man on his shopping list just in case. Speaking of big men, I hope the Suns extend Diaw soon and get that worry off my mind.

There is always more questions than answers...and any answers you get leads to more questions. They might as well not interview anyone involved because any answer given is suspect and likely to haunt them at a later date when proven untrue.

Seeing is definatley believing...anything else is garbage.
