has Chase Young ever gotten a multi-year deal after his draft contract was up? I see no reason to hamstring this team moving forward with that type of contract for a mercenary. He's a bad culture, mid production guy. If we're that desperate for a pass rusher, offer hima one year deal, but if we're in that position, we're screwed at EDGE anyway going into next year unless Robinson blossoms or BJ miraculously comes back healthy AND even better than he was in his non-descript rookie season.

To be fair he's only been a UFA once, even if it feels like he's been in the NFL forever.

Also I believe one variable MO likes is players that actually PLAY. Not interested in players that get injured often

Well, he's killing it in that aspect, I suppose.

Looking at this draft I think our best path is to spend the money for a free agent DT. It would be an instant upgrade without waiting for development. That allows us to grab the best edge rusher in the draft who would also benefit from the DT addition along with the other edge rushers we have.
Willams or Jones fits the DT need.

Ah… the Niners traded for him? Still wouldn’t give him 3 years. Beyond whatever attitude issues he has, he just hasn’t been productive enough for that kind of commitment for me.

Fair. Hopefully by year three you've built a resilient enough organization (including two highly drafted players from his program) to manage one screwball, but who knows.

Screwball’s juice has gotta be worth the squeeze. Not sure that’s the case here.

Bro. Jones, Nichols, Ojulari, Darius Robinson, Jonah Williams, Christian Jones and Elijah Jones would like to a word. You have as good of a chance at predicting draft picks as you do with player health. You can try to mitigate risk based on the past, but injuries happen.

I think there are two big issues with Chase Young.

#1 Availability - Chase hasn't been healthy and has dealt with several injuries over the course of his short career.

#2 Bad Fit - The biggest complaint that I've heard about Young is that he freelances too much. Very often he wasn't where he was supposed to be from a gap integrity stand point and it drove coaches mad.

This right here.

It infuriated New Orleans so much that he has the 2nd most snaps at DE ahead of Cam Jorden, Payton Turner and Foskey. Despite have 2 head coaches, including one that publicly called out a running back for his availability so had no problem holding players to account.

It's a BS rumour.

There's zero evidence of bad attitude or anything else negative from either the Niners or Saints. The only rumour about this comes from a failing COmmanders franchise looking for an out on trading away a top 2 pick for a low 3rd.

Cam Jordan is probably going to retire this year. He might play one more buts wants to finish his career with one team. He'll be in the booth next.
