Thats disturbing. I feel bad for Amare, because that video is going to make people forget all about LeBron's mom.

She referred to herself as a celebrity by the way.

It reminds me of this video; http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=sanderson1611#p/u/15/XSgR4ujCBWA

She has every right to not answer their question and in a free country we shouldn't have to PROVE we're not a criminal.

I actually think she has a case. Cops are getting ridiculous. Their job is to ENFORCE the law, not find innocent people and badger them.

She is in the same boat as me. By law if you have a DUI you need to have a interlock device for a year. I have one, why shouldnt she.

So you would prefer that the police not check up on drivers who are speeding, belligerent, and incoherent? Ohhh-kaaaay.

Not that it really matters to me but does anybody know how long she actually spent behind bars? Between her twenty-nine and a half times comment and her twenty-nine and a half years comment I was a bit confused. By the time she said every time she spent a month in jail she would count that as a year, my head was spinning.

I don't know, that sounds like profiling to me. She was obviously a celebrity and the police have nothing better to do than lay in the bushes until a celebrity comes by.

BTW, if this really is a "free country" shouldn't the cop have the right to just shoot her for that hair-do. Nothing life-threatening of course, we're not that free!

Interlock or not. Why doesnt she just hire a driver to get around? It would keep her out of a lot of trouble it seems.

She was not belligerant or incoherent until they falsely and improperly put her in the back of the car.

In this case, the cops created a problem when there wasn't one. But in general I don't want to live in a police state. I know I'm in the minority with this belief, and many of you will be stunned that I don't want the police out there detecting "pre-crime". But I don't.

I want freedom.

Freedom is messy and bad things can happen. It's not for the faint of heart, nor the control freaks.

Are you taking her word for that, or were you there?

In this case, the cops created a problem when there wasn't one.

Really.

I know I'm in the minority with this belief, and many of you will be stunned that I don't want the police out there detecting "pre-crime".

So, if a policeman pulls someone over for speeding, you don't want them to be on the lookout for any other possible problems with the driver?

It's not for the faint of heart, nor the control freaks.

I hope it's at least for the hypocrites. Trust me, you don't want the implications of what you call "freedom."

you guys do realize that if you are required to have an interlock device, your drivers license says INTERLOCK on it right? As soon as they saw her license, she is going in the back of the cop car.

I want freedom.

And I want Candy.

Freedom as an absolute is a mirage. It can't exist. Some of us want to live free of unnecessary fear, free of unnecessary risk. If you're free to drive as you wish you deprive me of my freedom. I want the police to pull over drivers that exhibit erratic or dangerous behavior. And I don't want someone to be able to circumvent the interlock device just because her son is rich enough to provide her with several vehicles to choose from.

I'm very Libertarian and as such I have a tendency to error on the side of freedom, not tyranny. In my opinion, your idea of a perfect world simply doesn't exist. Bad things will happen in a free society and it's our duty not to give in to tyrannical laws when they happen. Think about this in how it relates to the "war on terror". Same thing there. Now we're supposed to give in to full body scans at Airports, and this is only the tip of the iceberg on this stuff. Right now a progressive reading this is saying - WE SHOULD DO THOSE SCANS.

However, down the road they will become violated by one of these tyrannical police state measures and will change their tune real quick. Wait till a cop tries to badger you. You'll realize very quickly what I was talking about here. We've become very isolated, neutered with no right to protect ourselves and selfish. We want someone else to pay for our health care and more. I'm VERY frightened for our future because I don't think anyone knows what our country is right now. Are we a Republic? A Democracy? Democratic socialist? What the hell are we?

I firmly believe that the very act of trying to create a perfect society is tyrannical and evil because it requires God-like powers of control to achieve it. It simply cannot and will not work.

In my opinion the attempts of socialism, Marxism, communism and especially Nazism are attempts to control an imperfect man. And as such it's evil, in that it hates humanity because of how messy and imperfect it is and seeks to FORCE PERFECTION.

You won't be hearing this in Church but you should! God is telling us to have faith in what he's created, Satan would be the unfaithful telling us we can't have faith. Something will go wrong. This is how I THINK. I'm sure I'm in the minority in this. But, we're going so wrong in so many areas I'm not sure that's a negative at this point.

I'm not saying you support any of those ideologies but that there's virtually no line. Once we cross it, we can't seem to stop... It just keeps going and going. We may very well not agree on this, which is fine. I will argue for what I believe and you will argue for what you believe. At least we're both being honest about what we really believe, instead of some politically correct politician who's neutered his mouth of the truth.

:) Sorry this got so long winded, I just thought we'd be better off just skipping the crap and get straight to the what matters.

I'm against the airport scans. Are you saying that Carrie Stoudemire shouldn't have been pulled over at all? If so, at least your point of view is consistent. If not, then I'm at a loss to understand where you're drawing the line. She was already proven to be in violation of two laws, at that moment (speeding and not using an interlock), and she has a long history of substance abuse. If you believe that no one should ever be investigated for anything, then okay, but I doubt you'd go that far.

Your slippery slope argument really doesn't stand up. People who are already in violation of the law should be investigated when there is reasonable suspicion that they are also violating other laws. That's miles away from Nazism, and everyone except Glenn Beck (who I'm assuming is something of a hero to you) knows that.

She seemed to think she didn't have to have the interlock device. In regards to the case; We'll have to wait until it plays out. All I said was it REMINDED me of that Youtube video of the pastor being harassed by a cop searching for wrong doing. They pull you over today and then begin badgering you with questions, threats and searches to detect more crime. I'm against that.

You think we're miles away from Nazism? Interesting.. What if Bush were still President, would you say that? Can I see your papers please?

I firmly fear that there will come a day when Muslim or middle eastern men/women in certain cities will be treated like the Jews in Germany were. We won't (I hope!) exterminate, but we'll definitely imprison "suspected" terrorist's without a trial. Just ask Joe Lieberman.

And all it'd take is another BIG attack and watch that police state hammer down. Just be careful for what you wish for.

Glen Beck is entertaining, but thats where I draw the line. He isnt a role model or someone to follow in your life, just entertainment.

Good god, man, look at her record! (Have you looked at her record? I'm starting to think that maybe you haven't.) You're actually taking what she said in her TV interview at face value? How credulous do you have to be?

You think we're miles away from Nazism? Interesting.. What if Bush were still President, would you say that? Can I see your papers please?

I didn't say that "we're" miles away from Nazism; it would take us two weeks just to define the terms to make that a debatable question. I said that pulling over a speeder, then discovering that she has a long criminal record, is driving the car in violation of another law, and appears to be under the influence of other drugs, and then interrogating that person further, is miles from Nazism. And it is.

I firmly fear that there will come a day when Muslim or middle eastern men/women in certain cities will be treated like the Jews in Germany were. We won't (I hope!) exterminate, but we'll definitely imprison "suspected" terrorist's without a trial. Just ask Joe Lieberman.

Holy crap, you're just like the LaRouche kids who harass me outside the local bank. It's one off-the-wall conjured nightmare after another, each individual one of which is marginally credible, but which have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand, which is how the Scottsdale police handled Carrie Stoudemire.

And all it'd take is another BIG attack and watch that police state hammer down. Just be careful for what you wish for.

You aren't paying attention enough to have any idea what I'd wish for. Why don't you slow down, back up, and try to remember what it is that we're debating.
