Strasburg's Thomas, Hiland's Yoder highlight the area's All-Ohio honorees

COLUMBUS — Strasburg senior Riley Thomas and Hiland senior Joplin Yoder were among the top players in the East District this season.

Both were recognized among the state's best as the All-Ohio girls basketball teams for Division IV through VII were released on Monday.

Teams were selected by members of the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association.

Division I-III girls will be released on Tuesday with Division IV-VII boys on Wednesday and Division I-III on Thursday.

Thomas and Yoder made First Team in Division VII to highlight area players who received recognition from Muskingum, Coshocton, Perry, Morgan, Guernsey, Tuscarawas and Carroll counties.

Thomas highlighted an amazing season for the Tigers with 18 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game, while Yoder paced the Hawks with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

Strasburg junior Sofia Secrest (13.7 points), Hiland sophomore Macy Mullett (8.0), and Malvern freshman Ella Debo, Malvern (13.5) received Special Mention in Division VII, while Honorable Mention included Strasburg junior Ally Miller (9.8), Conotton Valley junior Isabella Higgins (14.0), Malvern freshman Katie Kuba (7.4) and Hiland seniors Ellie Habeger (7.0) and Trish Troyer (8.0).

In Division IV, West Holmes senior Aveona Yoder made Second Team after averaging 12 points and 7 rebouds, while Cambridge senior Emma Krise, who had 19 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, earned Third Team honors.

Special Mention included John Glenn senior Riley Zamensky (14 ppg), Carrollton juniors Brae Roudebush, (10.1) and Kylie Ujcich (8.9), Philo senior Aleigha Busse (10.8), Morgan junior Myleigh Williams (10.0) and West Holmes junior Briar Cline (11.0).

Honorable Mention featured Indian Valley senior Brooklyn Myers (10.4) and junior Cassie Miceli (10.0), Meadowbrook senior Emma Webster (12.7), River View junior Elaina Brenly (11.5), Maysville sophomore Avery Daniels (12.8), and Carrollton junior Emma Shafer (8.2).

In Division V, Tuscarawas Valley senior Leah Bourquin recieved Second Team accolades after averaging 13.4 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Tusky Valley senior Kaleigh Norris (8.7), West Muskingum sophomore Lyla Johnson (10.0), Sandy Valley senior Peyton Nicholson (14.2) and Claymont junior Ava Edwards (14.2) earned Special Mention, while New Lexington junior Chloe Dick (16.6), Tusky Valley sophomore Elli Wallick (10.0) and West Muskingum senior Addy Antonetz (11.0) were Honorable Mention.

In Division VI, Ridgewood sophomore Kat Kelley made Second Team after leading the Generals with 17.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.2 steals.

Crooksville senior Brynn Lundell (13.3), Buckeye Trail sophomore Jersey Eddy (11.1) and Newcomerstown freshman Laynie Matchett (12.0) were Special Mention, and Honorable Mention went to Ridgewood senior Kierston Latham (12.8), Crooksville junior Alexia VanMeter (11.5), Newcomerstown sophomore Breann Kerr (8.3), Garaway senior Paige Regula (10.0) and Buckeye Trail junior Ella Ashby (8.6).
