Do you ever wonder as Cardinal Fans just how much stress it adds to yor life? Granted this is just a sport that we are talking about but it has to be the best sport ever created. Football for some reason develops a comraderie amongst people that I have never seen. An example of that would be this message board and the amount of hours we all spend on it day in and day out. I have only met a select few of you yet I feel in some way that we are all connected. I feel like I have 100 more friends in this world all because of Cardinal football and this board that Skkorp gives us the priveledge to use.
Back to the stress topic. Do you feel that following this team adds stress to your life? Or do you feel that it is an escape like sports should be thus reducing stress in your life? Personally I get so worked up over this team some time that I literally feel my heart beating inside of my chest. I get big knots in my throat that wont go away. Am I the only one? It seems wierd to me that I get worked up over a team and what is plain and simply is just a game. Cardinal football is my passion! It might sound silly but I am nowhere near as fun to be around nor as excited about life in general as I am when football season is in session.
I long for taining camp and annual week long get aways to Flagstaff where you get to meet and talk to the players on a personal level. Its kind of nice and refreshing when you see a player like LJ Shelton and they look at you and walk up to you and shake your hand remembering you each year.
But then that dreaded Sunday comes and we all have seen it. Your team lays that egg on the field and literally appears like they have no heart. In turn it rips out your heart because you know that every year you spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on your team with the hope that they will reward you with something great! I make the annual trip to Flag, I make 3 to 4 trips a year to the valley for games, I buy memorabillia, I pay for Direct TV Sunday Ticket, yet every year I am let down but I keep coming back for more!
With all of this time and investment I put into this team and the constant let down I honestly feel that it much like my job adds stress to my life and will probably cause me to die at a much younger age than expected. I write this because Sports like I said above is supposed to be a release something to take your mind away from the stresses of the real world. Something where every Sunday you can just sit back and enjoy one of the true pleasures in this life(football). Yet being of a fan of this team almost magnifies the stress that I feel during my work week! So all in all Im just trying to say is AM I THE ONLY ONE!
Oh and while it might sound like Im complaining IM NOT! I WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!
