What do you think we should do with the sub forums?

It strikes me as clutter too. But it's just trying to make it easier on posters that involve themselves in other boards here. Additionally, it's probably trying to generate interest in the other boards. I suspect it will grow on us in time (those of us that use more than the Suns forum) but it might have more value if you could block out certain forums. For example, Phoenix will freeze over before I'll ever want to read a soccer thread so those will always just be noise to me.

These are not even the "Latest Threads." Look at the dates.

It is hard on the eye. I guess I must have taken too many classes in photography.

I missed that. I've changed my opinion already. They need to go. I had forgotten how difficult it would be to read threads on a smaller screen if you has to give up this much space to nothing. I think the idea might have merit but the execution is a problem. It needs to be user controlled as to what will be displayed on the main screens but it needs to disappear altogether inside a thread.

Exactly Steve!!! I had to do some more tweaking of it and now it shows all new posts within it. I am hoping it gets members that don't venture out of certain forums(like I was in the beginning with just sticking in the Cards forum) and get then more involved with other parts of the forum.

Also, this setup I have now has by far less ads to the non supporters then what Keebali had, so why is everyone upset. I did say I was going to add ads back up on the site.

Hey Shaggy, I did not realize you were the new owner. Good luck making this site work for everyone. I understand the need to balance user wants with financial realities.

I remember back in the day I had a computer, my buddy down loaded the stripper thing on it. Different strippers would literally dance across the top of my screen, they were only a couple inches big but it was nice, you know? Any chance we can get some dancers on ASFN?

I can learn to live with the "Lastest Threads" being on the side. Actually it is a good idea for the most part. However, I now remember why I mostly go the the Suns and Cardinals forums directly. The worst day in sports is better than the best day in most news.

That's a little bit better. Latest thread section is a bit smaller now, so it's not as "in your face" as it was earlier. It's good to have the local/ caring ownership again.

Please let us know what we, both individually and as a community, can do to help you guys out.

I try to not react negatively to something new just because it is new.

But reducing your thread width by over 25% to add a 4" width of impertinent information is annoying.

I use my bookmarks bar at the top of my screen to access the boards I want to view. I don't really need the overkill of seeing of all your board's latest posts.

I commend the new owner and mod's for trying something new, but this one detracts from the esthetics of your boards.

One man's opinion.
Thank you, Shaggy and Eric. As I posted on your ASFN has a new owner thread on the Cardinals board, I appreciate your bringing the ownership back to the Valley.

And I appreciate your compromise in reducing the size of the column on the right. Ironically, if it were not there, I would not have seen the ASFN has a new owner thread, posting to just the Suns and D-backs boards as I do.

As I also mentioned there, I am proud to be an ASFN contributor. I hope more posters join in and pay the reasonable annual fee.

Agree. The layout change helped a lot. Most posters are willing to help, not hinder. Also, advanced notice might help alleviate the shock factor when it can be done.

It would be nice if each user had the option of having the side panel turned on or off.

Wish there was but with this mod I don't think there will be that option. Will look at seeing there is away to do so, but right now there is not.

What about instead of having it on the side, make it a box at the top right under the menu? I realize the list of threads won't display more than a few, but if could be set to scroll I believe. Just a thought.

Honestly, I would bet that 99% of the people here have adblock installed and can't see "adds" at all. User Information and Latest Thread sections provide no value to anyone.

I see value in this last part. I think it's cool to see the latest and greatest threads people have commented on. Although, maybe I would change it to "hottest threads" versus last. You could have a lame thread that has one comment the way it is now.

I absolutely love the latest threads sidebar. I am using it a lot.
