Dude give it up man. He will be average here even if the Cards drafted him. Put Pace in his situation where he's not the only playmaker in that defense and Pace will look good too. If Suggs does it for 4 years in a row then I'll say you're right but right now its way too early to tell about this debate.

BINGO, we needed a DE who couild rush the passer not an OLB. We already have an OLB who can rush the passer his name is Ray Thompson. Suggs just didn't fit here not right now.

The problem is we didn't get a DE who could rush the passer and our OLB's didn't provide much pressure on the QBs either. I still believe he could play DE in the NFL - he sure couldn't have done any worse than Calvin Pace.

We could have had both the top rookies from the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Oh well, whats done is done....I just hope this years first round pick has a much bigger impact on this team than our past few.

I'm still not convince Suggs would have been ROY here with us. If we have all the playmakers the Ravens have yeah I think he would be ROY here but we don't have talent close to what the Ravens have.

Sure. That's why on at least 80% of the snaps I saw him play with the Ravens he was lined up as a 4-3 DE.

I said after he was drafted last year the Ravens were making a mistake trying to turn him into an OLB. And, sooner or later, he'd be a starting DE in the NFL. I see no reason to change my opinion now, especially after he spent a lot more time playing like a DE than an OLB last year.

Duh?

He's still ROY.....is this setting us up for next year?

The good news is that when we pass on Big Ben and Eli we won't need to worry as much about a first year QB being an ROY.

It won't hurt next year anyways.

Om passing downs... because he can't handle the run...

Why was this subject brought up again, two weeks after the season has already ended. Are we now reaching into the world of the obvious?

I am going to start a thread entitled, "Air, we need it to breathe!" or "Coach Green is BLACK!!"

(1) He played DE in Baltimore. They called it OLB but it was a DE position. On a 4-3 team he might have done even better but he would not have done worse. Remember he was playing part time too.

(2) Yes put Pace in Baltimore he would have had 12 sacks and won ROY - NOT! That arguement proves my point on Suggs.

(3) Also if it was just the team he played on why didn't they guy he replace get 12 sacks. And if its just the team not the player then why didn't Baltimore trade down and take Pace since he would have got 12 sacks in their system.

(4) Boldin and other players have proved it over and over talent produces even when on a bad team.
Suggs would have been lined up against Ts and he would have beaten them and gotten sacks for whichever team he played for. Just like Boldin caught balls and beat CBs despite a weak very weak supporting cast.

(5) If the Cards have an OLB who can get sacks why did they try and sign Colvin? Did the OLB the Cards have who can get sacks get 12 sacks last year playing part time. If he did then I take it back.

(6) To say a 12 sack OLB or DE doesn't fit on a team with the pathetic sack and defense stats that the Cards have is silly. The Cards can afford to pass on ROYs come on. It's okay to admit the Cards made a huge mistake. DG said at the time of the draft Suggs should have been taken by the Cards.

(7) Those who do not admit and thereby learn from past mistakes are doomed to repeat them. Let's say the Cards were drafting 9th spot. And Eli, Ben, Fitz, M Williams, Gallery, Winslow, R Williams, K Jones were all drafted before them and Taylor is still on the board. Do the Cards pass on Taylor cause they already have 2 safeties in Wilson and Jackson.
Uh no.

It's difficult sometimes to say how a player would have done with another team. For example, if Quan had been drafted by a team that already had starting wideouts, he might have taken a backseat early in the season and not had a chance to shine like he did here.

We'll never know how Suggs would have done as a Cardinal, especially in his rookie season.

To me the argument is pointless. Who cares? It's not like we can go back and do the draft over.

That is completely different issue if Suggs had been drafted by a team that already has a pass rushing DE/OLB he would not have had 12 sacks. But in the first round a team with that would not be likely to be drafting Suggs anyway. The Cards have holes everywhere from what I can see only 1 WR spot is filled on this team with a great player. Upgrading at every other position on the team is a go.

Dude I am working on time machine right now, but you miss the point. I am not going to warn the Cards when I finish my machine, I am going to warn the Vikes. I want the Cards to pass on him so the Vikes can take him. ;)
