Which do you prefer? Just a comparison for conversation.

Here are the Suns asset comparison. Unrestricted free agents are not included as assets but restricted ones are. I am not sure about cap space.

2014 assets:
Dragic
Goodwin
Green
Markieff
Marcus
Plumlee
Len
Bledsoe (RFA)
18th 2014 pick from Washington
Future Laker pick (top 5 protected in 2015, top 3 in 2016)
Future Minnesota pick (likely to become two second rounders)
Cap space: Approx 20 million without cap holds for Bledsoe or Ennis

2015 assets:
Bledsoe
Len
Warren
Markieff
Marcus
Tucker
Granger
Bullock
Goodwin
Knight (RFA)
2016 Cavaliers first round pick (top 10 protected 2016-2018, unprotected thereafter)
2017 Miami first round pick (top 7 protected 2017-18, unprotected thereafter)
2021 Miami first round pick (assumed unprotected)
Cap space: Approx $23 million without cap holds for rookies or Knight

Same: Len, Goodwin, Marcus, Markieff

Gains: Bledsoe (signed), Knight (RFA), Tucker, Warren, Granger, Bullock, Cavs pick, Miami pick, Miami pick.

Losses: Dragic, Plumlee, Green, Laker pick, Minny pick, Washington pick (used but then Ennis traded)

Cap space will be roughly the same.

Can I just how much it SUCKS watching the playoffs AGAIN without the Suns?

And you know what sucks worse? Believing it's going to be a LONG time until they're back in them and even longer before they actually have a chance once in.

I'm starting to turn from apathy to hatred for this team and the people running it. The only way I forsee this barrel of monkeys keeping the Titanic from sinking is a miracle from God allowing us to win the lottery. And even if that happened and we got the 1st or 2nd pick, I'd still expect us to blow it by passing on Towns or Okafor because we drafted a oft-injured project with potential two years ago.

Yes... I'm angry.

Actually, I'm happy. Increased my free time now that I don't watch games.

Two seasons ago, I was happy- they sucked, but they sucked enough that they got a good pick. I thought to myself, "Well, two more years like this and we'll have some young talent." I really thought they would do this the right way. They wasted two years and achieved nothing.

Actually worse than nothing, since their three largest contracts (Bledsoe, Morris, Morris) are all of probably negative value, or at least will be quite difficult to move.

I actually think Markieff is on a very good contract and wouldn't be an issue moving. The guy is still young and averaged what... 16/6 at 8 million per? Sure he's a complete knucklehead, but that's really good value for a solid player.

Bledsoe would definitely be tough to move. Marcus... eh, who cares. He's making, what? 4 million per? that ain't a large contract.

I'm with you. It just gets so tiring that Suns aren't in the playoffs again. While 16 other fanbases are enjoying playoffs and many of the other non playoff teams are talking about which player they will be getting with their high draft pick, we're in purgatory.

This is the longest playoff drought in Suns franchise history. I hope Sarver's happy that he was able to make some kind of history.

Exactly what I thought would happen to. Want to know what's worse? Their not done wasting yet, based on McD's and Babby's comments, it seems like the Suns still believe their "close" and will make stop gap replacements so that we will miss playoffs again and land the #12-#14 draft pick once again.

For all the hate that Philly gets from the national media and everyone else, can anyone seriously say that don't prefer the 76ers roster and draft picks over the Suns roster and draft picks? I think Philly may very well become a playoff team (granted its in the East) before the Suns do.

Yea but I think other teams know about his defense, his temper problems, his rebounding, plus most importantly, will he be happy playing without his brother?

It's nice to know the lofty expectations of last summer have dampened. We had a great year and then went into the summer with dreams of Kevin Love, LeBron, Bosh and others. The expectations for this summer are so low it's going to be easy for McD to exceed them. He gets to live the 2013 offseason over again.

Seems to me that excessive extreme negativity far outweighs unrealistic optimism right now.

that's what happens when you miss the playoffs 5 years in a row and go into a season with high hopes that you're about to get back there and end up blowing up the team and ending the year 1-10.

Good point! Another thing that occurred to me is that other teams improved, so even if the Suns were just stagnant, they are worse off than they were two years ago.

A good example of this is the Pelicans who have oh so quickly leap frogged us. Next up is Utah who was only one win worse than and ended the season with a pretty record post All Star break.

In a van...down by the river.
How many teams have missed the playoffs five straight seasons and yet have only made one top 5 pick in that time frame? I'm no genius but that right there pretty much paints a picture of where the Suns are at today.

They were unexpectedly good last season. I am sure they were expecting a top 5 pick.

So are the Morris twins still considered assets? :)

We're gonna have to attach one of the Heat 1st rd picks to get rid of them.

Actually trading the twins would require two first round picks, one for each player. :)

Just joking.

I'd ride it out with the Morris twins and see what happens. If they are not convicted of a felony, maybe they can be included in a trade for a huge salaried player that might help the Suns.

They're both asses and their twins...so yes. Assets sounds about right. :D

The thing is, their four year extensions are yet to start. Right now they might be concerned negative assets up until this legal matter can be resolved in some acceptable fashion.
