It might be a bit too early to start talking about Summer league, but then again how much can you discuss incompetence of Suns front office and Amare trade rumors (heard another one today - Amare to Hawks).

Suns Summer League schedule as is:

Monday, July 13
COX Pavilion
3 PM Phoenix vs. Dallas

Wednesday, July 15
COX Pavilion
5 PM Toronto vs. Phoenix

Friday, July 17
COX Pavilion
7 PM Phoenix vs. NBA D-League Select

Saturday, July 18
COX Pavilion
5 PM Memphis vs. Phoenix

Sunday, July 19
COX Pavilion
7:30 PM LA Clippers vs. Phoenix

So who's going to be on that Summer league roster and who do you want to see there?

From current roster probably Dragic, Lopez, Clark, Griffin and Tucker are going to play there.

By the way does anyone know, did Suns pick the option on Alando for next year?

I would love to see Jowsh Heytvelt there, whom I wanted the Suns to pick with one of their second rounders. He's 7 footer with range on his jumper and can rebound the ball. Also from undrafted players would be nice to see Pargo or Woodside.

Dionte Christmas already accepted the spot on 76ers Summer team.

Top undrafted players

Josh Heytvelt
Alade Aminu
Paul Harris
Dionte Christmas (will play for 76ers)
Jerel McNeal
Luke Nevill
Dar Tucker
Tyrese Rice
Wesley Matthews
K.C. Rivers
Daniel Hackett
Aaron Jackson
Kevin Rogers
Curtis Jerrells
John Bryant
Ben Woodside
Tony Gaffney
Micah Downs
Leo Lyons
Jeff Adrien
Jeremy Pargo
Joe Ingles
Eric Devendorf

Heytvelt and Nevil might be worth a look. I still can't believe Christmas wasn't drafted. He will make an NBA roster.

I recommend the LVSL to any basketball fan. If I remember correctly its $25 for a all-day pass and you can sit anywhere. Last year I sat right next to Kerr/Sarver/Cartwright/Porter 1 game and Javelle McGee the next game. You will see guys that you havent seen play since college and old-timers like BJ. Armstrong in walking around getting food. You can actually also sit there and really get a feel for how good the players are and the difference between a real NBA player and a borderline guy.

I think there are bunch of guys who could make a roster - Heytvelt, Aminu, Ingles, Pargo.

Last year Pargo was considered late 1st ealry 2nd rounder. What a year in school can do to ones stock ;)

It is a tradition for me... every year is seems to double in size and popularity...

I started going about 5 years ago, and gotta say back then, there were about 200 people in the stands, and about 10 teams...

Today there are abot 200 people in the first couple rows, seats are sometimes hard to find, and 24 teams will attend.. Its been pretty incredible to see...

Anyone coming to check out the Suns this year for sure?

I remember going to Long Beach and seeing the summer league there, that was Amare's rookie year and he just destroyed Drew Gooden. Even the Laker fans in attendance were in awe of Amare's physical skills.

That was also when Penny was still on the team and I went on a radio show that Chandler Mike did and gave a report about him. What a waste that guy was when we got him.

I will be there. I went last year and watched Bayless embarrass Strawberry. It wasn't very crowded and is a pretty cool event.

Lee Cummard will play for the Suns summer league team.

He is a local kid, and former Arizona 5A State player of the year...

He was the Mountain West Player of the Year in 2008, but was unable to capitalize on that and had a rather ordinary Senior Season..

He shoots well, and has an extremly high basketball IQ, He does a lot of things well but is not specacular...

Assuming the Amare to the Warriors trade doesn't go through, he could be a very interesting player to watch, and IMO will have a pretty good shot to make the team...

I was kinda hoping that Tucker wouldn't play so we could get the others some more touches. Micah Downs and Cummard are the only decent pickups IMO.

Tyrese Rice wouldn't be bad to bring in for a looksy at point.

Rice was a nice college player, but he is a very poor man's Barbosa, so I don't really see the point of inviting him.

Micah Downs is an athletic SG/SF with nice jumpshot, he was a McDonalds All-American before signing to Kansas but after one disappointing year he transferred to Gonzaga. Downs is a very talented player but I don't know if he will ever be assertive enough to show his skills a bit similarly to James White.

Zabian Dowdell was the main scoring option of a solid Virginia Tech team two seasons ago (I don't know what he has done since then), he is a scoring G/undersized SG, has a nice J, athletic and dangerous one-on-one player.

Josh Carter was a sharpshooter wingman of a very strong Texas A&M (with Acie Law), excellent college player, may be worth a roster spot somewhere in the NBA.

I think that these 3 players have the shot of earning a roster spot.

Wow...Interesting team they have put together. Why did they grab 7 shooting guards?

Zabian Dowdell is going to be interesting to watch, so will be Downs.

For me also very interesting will be to see Kaspars Berzins. He's pretty talented 7 footer with nice face up skills. He can hit a 3 ball, can take his man of the dribble a bit too, as well as rebound and block shots.
he could be a poor man's Andrea Bargnani.

The biggest knack on him has been his attitude and work ethic, however that might have changed in the last couple of years, He's also kind of thin for his size.

I have seen him play quite often the last 3 years and I think he could become very interesting player. A while ago he was considered more promising and talented player than Andris Biedrins.
So will be interesting to see how he does at this level.

Dowdell played in the french league after he went undrafted. He was the 6th man (playing backup at both guards positions) of the french champion, actually.

He knows how to drive and attack the basket, but I can't say I've been impressed by his shooting ability, his defense or his court vision (that's probably why he was a backup and why his team let him go).

He played in the italian second division league this season, where he obviously had good stats and was the leam leader. But since it's like the 15th league in Europe, it doesn't mean much in regard to his ability to play in the NBA

yawn. not a single of the FA additions will make our roster. if they do, it's not a good sign.
