Think back to the offseason. If the Cards could have traded their 2nd Round pick (used on JJ) for Edgerrin James and a huge contract:

Hiendsight is 20/20. No point in the coulda, woulda, sholuda game.

JJ isn't totally busted yet. Didn't the Colts send this loser RB Faulk to the lambs?

No. Faulk was never considered to be a bad RB. Never considered as great as he bacame with the Rams, but he was a big deal in Indy, too.

I think we could have gotten Alexander also. I cry evertime I think about it, I was one of the main trumpet blowers for picking up James in the offseason.

If I remember correctly they thought it would be no big loss. And he would be a detriment to the lambs. I really want to see a RB do that for us. I'm all for Shipp being the guy for now but we really need him or JJ to step it up. Right now the position is wide open.

I'll tell you what's far worse (and, to my fault, has been mentioned many times, but I'm just starting to understand what a great back alexander is)

We had a choice between Jones and Alexander and we picked Jones.

we picked jones

have mercy

You really think Alexander would have been better under the McGinnis regime?

I could see Alexander being the top RB in Chicago right now.

Hmm.....so you are saying Jones is as good as Alexander?

Yes, Alexander would have done much better than Jones in Arizona.

A lot of teams passed on Alexander, to their eternal regret... :D

Call me a skeptic but I just don't see Seattle trading us Shaun Alexander within the division. Edge I might believe but it was the same thing with Patrick Surtain, we could have had him but we decided apparently the cost was too great. I can see the argument against Edge more, he's got a lot of wear and tear and an injury history, but he's sure a lot better than what we have now.

Getting Edge would make more sense if you are a team that just can't get over the hump.

Teams that aren't within five hundred miles of the hump itself, well it's not so important.

Seattle doesn't have a choice... Alexander signed a special deal preventing Seattle from franchising him after the season. He's going to be a UFA.

I still don't think they were going to trade him to the team in their own division many were picking to win the division.

I guess stranger things have happened though.

Alexander has always had a good passing game, and a great offensive line. When he doesnt have that, how good of numbers will he put up? That is what you guys are looking at, numbers. The guy has never played great in the playoffs against good teams that new how to stop him. Sure Alexander looks amazing running through gapping holes that his offensive line produces for him. He wouldnt get that here, and he wouldnt get that in Chicago either. Is Jones better than Alexander, no not at all. Though if you put Alexander in Jones situation im guessing he does no better. Jones is having an outstanding season with a offense full of bums with 4th round rookie quarterback and Mushin Muhhamad.
