The season begins this weekend! I really hope the NCAA lifts the postseason ban, but we'll have to wait and see.

ASU baseball outfielder Cory Hahn in hospital with unconfirmed injury

Arizona State officials are not commenting on the condition of freshman outfielder Cory Hahn, injured Sunday, due to privacy issues.

Hahn was taken off the field on a stretcher in the bottom of the first inning of a game against New Mexico and taken by ambulance to a St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. He slid head first into second base on a stolen base attempt and collided with New Mexico second baseman Kyle Stiner.

"College Baseball Daily" is reporting that Hahn suffered a C-5 spinal cord fracture and underwent surgery Sunday night.

Personally, I would make any head-first slide an automatic out. No need to ever do this, especially at the HS/College level

So...I heard ASU baseball is hosting a regional. I thought we weren't going to be able to play in the postseason, but I guess they haven't made the ruling yet? I'm really hoping we can finally get it done this year with yet another top 10 team.

Yeah, they're eligible while the ban is under appeal, but I don't really understand what would happen if they started the regional and then the ban was upheld.

Not that I understand most of what the NCAA does, anyway, though.

I figure they'd ban us for the next postseason. This is a bit ridiculous. It's almost worse to have this just hanging over our heads...just make the decision.

The umps in this ASU/UT series are the worst I have ever seen. They call interference on a batter who just got ball 4 while the runner was going from 1st to 2nd on the free pass. Takes us out of the 1st and 3rd with 1 out.

These guys are so bad it is not even funny.

I couldn't believe he made that call, especially after the interference call.

Good for Nomar, though...but I doubt he'll be hired to broadcast on this super-fantastic Longhorn Network that I absolutely, positively must call my cable operator and demand.
