Give me Butler over Beal any day. We won't be seeing a smiling Beal all the time while getting our butts kicked, instead we will see a dog who wants to win.

My only concern is the amount arse Butler, KD and Book will slay...hopefully that's not a distraction.

Getting Butler seems like a pipe dream, what do we even have to offer that his other preferences couldn't beat?

Why in the world would Miami trade Butler for Beal? He’s a worse player on a longer contract. In this scenario are we giving up even more draft capital for a Beal upgrade, who will still miss 20 games a season, is old and might have us win 2 or 3 more games but still get run out of the first round, if we even make it there?

Shams is evil for trolling fanbases.
He got caught but I believe they all do it to some extent. They put out bogus and unverified snippets at the request of agents and GMs and sometimes even players and in return they occasionally get good stuff from those sources.

Butler and KD would be throwing punches at each other in the first month. They are polar opposites personality wise. I just don't see it. Any deal for Butler would need to involve KD. I think I'd be ok with that swap if we got a pick or some swap rights included.

We know Miami are the buyers in this case and not the sellers, unless Butler demands to only come to the Suns.

Worse player? Butler has willed his team to wins, sometimes. Beal, has done what for us? Beal does not move our needle.

What has Beal done that is better than Butler?

Butler 19/5/5/1
Beal 18/4/3/1

I'd rather have a dog who wants to win than a smiling fool that didn't show at the end of game a game 4 sweep.

I don't want either one, I see no value in adding makeup to this pig of a team. Butler would be an upgrade but I have no idea why he'd be willing to come to Phoenix unless he's decided he wants a nice place to retire in. If I were him, I'd push for teams such as Dallas, Houston, Memphis or maybe Denver.

The only possible rationale I can see is the fact that Butler is gone either way, and they think that a Suns 1st rounder could have some real value. (which it might). That still doesn't explain how you acquire one of the worst contracts in the NBA in Beal.

What in the world are you talking about? I said Butler was and is the better player. I also don’t see the value in trading more draft capital for Butler who probably moves the needle maybe 2 or 3 games and the team still loses in the first round.

But you never answered my first question… why the hell Miami would settle for Beal? Beal is a worse player on a longer contract. That is beyond unrealistic.

What in the world are you talking about, I already said Miami would be the the org with the control, unless Butler demands to trade to a specific team.

The only factors I can think of is that Beal prior to the Suns trade said Miami was his preferred destination and was willing to waive his NTC to get there. Miami would likely get the Suns to dangle the 2031 unprotected first-round pick which they might highly covet because they want to get younger. I really can't think of any other reasons why Miami would do this either other than maybe working in something from a 3rd team?!

I’d be pissed if we traded away that pick to be be a slightly better, yet still middling, playoff team.

You are making a good case for making the trade, if Beal was the primary trade piece for Phoenix.

This Joe Cool type image is getting old.

Also, it gives the Suns another player that can play power forward. Can you imagine a small ball lineup with Durant at center and Butler at the 4 with some nastiness thrown in for good measure.

Part of the price for working at ESPN is you have to tease stuff. Woj hated it but guys like Shefter have no problem doing it. Shams is learning the hard way.

A smart org like the Heat won’t make the same mistake we did which makes me think. How many teams have the Washington Wizards beat in a trade besides us?

I stand behind Sham Charania's reporting of the story. The other parties didn't like being caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

It may not matter. Gerald Bourguet says the Suns are not interested. However, Gambo said on the radio that Beal would be willing to waive his no-trade clause if the right opportunity arose. Gambo also says that there appears to be legit interest ON BUTLER'S side to join the Suns. I am going to stick with Gambo on this.

Having said that? It appears the Beal's no trade clause might not be the barrier we thought it was. Meaning the Suns could explore trading him. Also, if Beal is willing to do that? That says Beal isn't exactly happy here either.

The Suns would likely have to throw in their 2031 unprotected first-round pick, but if we are looking at the goal as winning a championship in the next 2-3 seasons, the Butler trade makes sense. Also, other teams could become involved to make the trade more attractive.

In separate trades, the Suns could trade other players as well as a way around the tax apron.

As far as Beal going to Miami, it's an attractive destination, so I can see him waiving his NTC.

By the way, I know Shams stands by his reporting and had a good track record. However, Gambo said he has pointed out multiple times in the past when Shams was wrong.

Interesting thing though is Gambo did not confirm or deny any interest by the Suns for Butler (that came from Bourguet). Gambo did mention it makes no sense for the Heat. Unless a 3rd team changes something? I agree maybe that changes. It appears that Nurk, Okogie and Grayson are more likely to be traded than Beal.

Gambo said yesterday he was going to do some more "homework". Curious to see if he has an update today. However, the big the reveal for me is that Beal would waive his NTC which open possibilities.

In a heartbeat if I thought we could turn this roster into a championship contender. But I am convinced that's not possible. IMO adding Butler would be a lot like when we went for Trevor Ariza. He'd be miserable playing with this soft-ass crew.
I don't think adding Butler makes us a contender, but what it would do is allow us to dump Beal's contract. So I would be for the move, as long as we don't resign Butler to a big deal after his contract expires at the end of the year.

I don't know if I agree that it makes no sense for the Heat. I actually think Beal would thrive if he is once again put into being the primary scorer on a team.

Jimmy Butler is old and likely won't resign, if they value Beal at all they might actually like the fact he will stay beyond this year and give them a #1 scorer.

Also there are not many players with a big enough salary to make a trade for Butler, so they don't have a ton of options.

I really don't see any conflict between what Shams is reporting versus Gambo.

The Heat not having interest in Beal in 2023 could still be true.

When Gambo didn't immediately shoot down the new Butler trade rumor, it told me there might be an element of truth to the idea. Gambo doesn't often break Suns news, but he does seem to contacts where he can ask if the information is correct.

Also, Shams has been incredibility reliable in his reporting. I can't remember when Shams was wrong, although I'm sure there are times when things didn't happen. However, that doesn't mean the reporting wasn't based on good information.

Shams strikes me as a reporter that has multiple reliable resources and he often double-checks everything before reporting.
