The Suns will be one of the more active buyers on the trade market as they aim to capitalize on their all-in championship window.Phoenix is not willing to put their coveted 2031 first-round pick on the table, unless a true franchise-changing opportunity arises.
What are they buying with?LOL Wut?
"More active buyers"?
Yes, if you go through the teams on his list - Houston doesn't want him. Dallas would have to give up way to many valuable role players. GS would have to give up Kuminga most likely who in my opinion is more valuable than Butler straight up and I really doubt that is the best offer they can get for him.I heard a podcast today where they went through all the teams on the list of Butler's wish list. They went through why it couldn't be done by any of them except for Phoenix. Then they said they couldn't see why Pat Riley wouldn't just let Butler walk.
If MIA ever would entartain the idea of trading Butler for Beal, the question is not whether the Suns are willing to include their 2031 unprotected 1st - since that is a must, IMO - but the question is if are they willing to include Dunn and/or Ighodaro as well.
Yeah… I have to think a separate deal is made where one of those guys get traded to Miami also, along with a Beal + 2031 unprotected first. If MIA ever would entartain the idea of trading Butler for Beal, the question is not whether the Suns are willing to include their 2031 unprotected 1st - since that is a must, IMO - but the question is if are they willing to include Dunn and/or Ighodaro as well.
Screw Butler if it takes the 2031 pick.If MIA ever would entartain the idea of trading Butler for Beal, the question is not whether the Suns are willing to include their 2031 unprotected 1st - since that is a must, IMO - but the question is if are they willing to include Dunn and/or Ighodaro as well.
Why? At this point we're committed, and I'd much rather see 3 more years of Butler than of Beal.Screw Butler if it takes the 2031 pick.
I am not willing to delay our rebuild even one more year.
Yes, correct, this would be extremely difficult technically. The Suns can't aggregate players. So any deal involving Dunn or Oso would need to be concurrent to a Butler for Beal deal. It still doesn't make sense for the Suns or the Heat though, the Suns to lose out on a young and cheap rotation player and for Miami to pay Beal for so much longer than Butler when they didn't have interest in Beal 18 months ago.
I would happily trade the 2031 pick alongside Beal for Butler.Screw Butler if it takes the 2031 pick.

I think that there is a decent chance that Butler picks-up his player option next year since the FA market next summer is very dry (only DET and WAS will have 40+ mil. cap room).
If he does, Beal's contract is only one year longer than Butler's.
