gauchos accounted for 24 of our 46 boards

book(10) and kd(8) accounted for 54% of assists

this led to the 3 pt shooting we've all been waiting for

Collin Gillespie has 13 assists to 1 turnover since becoming a starter for Phoenix.

Finding a player to waive should be easy. The contract situation may be more complicated.

Inexplicably, is why did the Suns go away from Dunn and Ighodaro. Has it taken Bud this long to figure out the Suns roster?

The question, in regard to Martin and Gillespie, is would the Suns play them? Martin is the Suns version of a power forward.

The Suns roster isn't fixed, but they finally have some players out there who play with energy and willing to play defense.

As I've said, I'm not in favor of a quick firing of yet another Head Coach. But if I were going to fire him, it would be due to him not playing those guys (especially Dunn). If Ryan wasn't dealing with an injury I see no justification for him not being on the court regularly.

It seems like the Suns are figuring out they have some bookend type forwards that can play with Durant or off the bench. I guess I'm thinking back to the days of Gar Heard and Curtis Perry.

Dunn, Ighodaro, Martin and O'Neale are these type players. Wish Oso had an outside shot, but I guess you can't have everything.

IMO, Gillespie has allowed these players to play their game because he is content to run the team and make sure everyone is involved. Since he doesn't tend to turn the ball over, this has helped remedy one of the Suns biggest weaknesses, turnovers.

I'm not comparing talent, but Gillespie reminds me a lot of John Stockton, Mark Price, and Steve Nash in the way he runs the team. Although not overly athletic, he is an absolute pest on defense. He gives the team a rudder they desperately needed. Tyus Jones has excelled as a shooting point guard coming off the bench.

We aren't privy to locker room or practice talk. I feel Oso was sat for a reason, he did a G-League stint and we didn't need him that badly with Richards and Plumlee. I think there could be some things they haven't done that Bud requested, be it in practice or games, so they didn't earn the minutes on the floor.

Gillepsie not playing makes the most sense. We brought in Tyus Jones and Morris to run PG and Beal and Booker still cover that spot for at least 1/4 of the game as well. The minutes for him just weren't there. He was in the awkward position of not having a role because he couldn't earn one through his play since the team was fairly deep at his position. Unlike the others, he's not a good off ball or combo guard, which limited his potential minutes further.

After pursuing a trade for Kevin Durant last month, the Heat will be a team to closely monitor if the Suns make him available again this summer.Miami can build a potentially appealing package around Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jovic, and multiple first-round picks.

Ironically, the better we do (and KD puts up numbers), the less likely we will trade him, especially if we do end up trading Beal somehow.

Also, it's just a matter of time before Micic is waived and Gillespie converted. It's coming, just don't know when yet.

I understand your point, but if I'm a coach with a losing record and the highest payroll in the NBA, I'm looking for solutions.

IMO, Gillespie is the best true point guard on the Suns roster.

Which could be what spurned this run. I think the questions you ask are valid, I try to view it from all perspectives. In this case Bud, players, JJ, and Ish. I believe Budenholzer had sort of a deal in place to play what's being paid for up until it was clear that wasnt working and he started using what he found useful more and more, enter the youngsters. That's worked and if it was Bud's call to go that direction it should help alleviate JJ of his duties and give Bud more control.

I understand the pecking order thing and the implied promises made when signing Tyus and Monte.

What I'm less forgiving of is the Suns failing to wrap up Gillespie to a standard NBA contract a long time ago. We have already discussed this, so I will not elaborate further.
