I also regret Okogie leaving, but Richars is an upgrade at C. Not by much, but it will be a significant one and he has a solid contract.
Why do you regret Okogie leaving - he never plays if Royce and Dunn are available.

Sending out the picks bothers me a lot more, even though I know it was necessary.

The Suns getting a 2025-second round pick in return (from Denver) makes the trade more attractive.

Phoenix needs to keep stocking the roster for the future.

I think we overpaid but not by much. At least he's an upgrade at backup center. I'd feel better about starting him if we were a smart defensive team, as it is he'll likely just be one more guy who looks lost out there at times.
He is likely an upgrade at starting center.

I think it's mostly a fair trade, but Josh Okogie was one of those few Suns players who gave 100% every night.

That's the part that hurts.

The Suns need more help at the 4/5. I don't know the story on Richaun Holmes, but if I were the Suns, I would check it out.

Also, clear out some dead weight and add Frank Kaminsky. The Suns need a locker room guy that could play if needed.

No, we tried Frank, he's not good enough to get playing time. Holmes is out of the league for a reason.

I think the next move will be trading Grayson for a power forward.

No, no, no. Richards is our starter, and he is much better than our other options.
If you think I meant otherwise, I failed to make my point. Yes, he instantly becomes our best center but no, he isn't a good starting center. He improves our weakest position but it's still our weakest position even with this addition. His numbers look great but he gets lost out there far too often. Like I said, I'd feel a lot better about this addition if we had smarter team defenders on the court with him.

Maybe. But there aren't 30 starting centers in the NBA. I think he should be good enough. I would like to replace Plumlee with an upgrade though.

The trade for Richards saves the Suns $20 million as well.

I'm fine if the Suns trade Allen for a power forward, but they need to fix the chemistry on this team as well.

Adding Kaminsky would go a long way in this regard.

Also, Damion Lee and Bol Bol are needlessly taking up roster spots. The Suns still have an open roster spot.

I'd like to add Collin Gillespie to the regular roster as well.

Yeah, I think it's similar to the point guard position. If your center isn't in the top 15 or so, you need an upgrade and I'm not sure Nick can ever be in that top 15. You can get by with a Richards if you're strong elsewhere but our team defense is weak and Nick won't solve that problem even though he'll give us much better rim protection and some much needed rebounding.

Because he was a great guy and teammate that worked his butt off and never complained. This team is way short in that department.

I am not for trading Allen. I think he has repeatedly shown he hits big shots when they need it. I have not seen anybody else on this team have that ability from the outside as consistently as he does. I just wouldn't trust our 3 point shooting at all minus Allen.

This also means Oso 100% has to develop some kind of offensive game. With Richards and Plumlee, it sure would be nice if Oso could slot into that 4 spot once in a while.
I think that’s something that probably only happens in the offseason where he has time to really work on that. He’s so raw and practice time is so limited that it’s really tough for guys to add to their games during the season.

That’s the scouting report. Good athlete but a poor feel for the game.

Agreed. He needs some major work. His offensive gills are UGLY away from the rim.

I'd like to keep Allen, but it all depends on who is available in trade. Let's fix this team while we are at it, providing it can be fixed.

The Suns still need more help at the 4/5.

I agree. I'd trade Allen for a good power forward but I doubt we can get anyone near that level. I'm concerned that we'll trade him instead for a lower level PF that won't impact the team as much as the loss of Grayson hurts it. And we've already seen what happens when we didn't have peak Allen
