This is a very good article, I'll post some of it here, feel free to use the link to read the whole thing

There is as wide a range of competence among the league’s 30 medical staffs as there is among its 30 front offices. The Phoenix Suns are proof of that.

Maybe it’s the warm climate that attracts so many other retirees, because something about Phoenix is a tonic for the NBA’s most injury-prone players. Steve Nash and Grant Hill missed 41 total games in their last four seasons with the Suns. They’ve already missed 61 (!) in their first year in Los Angeles. Here’s how many games Shaq played in his last five seasons: 40, 61, 75, 53, 36. Guess which was his only full season with the Suns. Michael Redd played almost as many games with Phoenix (51) in last year’s lockout-shortened season than he did in his last three (61) with Milwaukee. Jermaine O’Neal has been relatively healthy for them this season. Jermaine O’Neal!

I’m not a doctor and I’ve never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express; I really have no idea what makes the Suns different from everyone else. Here’s one interesting article about their “secrets”. Whatever their methods, the Phoenix medical staff should be like the San Antonio front office, with disciples spreading a proven philosophy far and wide throughout the league. However, accountability for a position that rarely gets much media attention will only happen if the players demand it through free agency.

Bynum and Howard will be unrestricted free agents this summer, while Oden will be looking to make a comeback. In choosing a team, their first priority has to be choosing a franchise with a world-class medical staff. If Phoenix can give those guys a measurably better chance at staying healthy, that’s a pretty big deal. Maybe there’s no answer to the riddle of keeping big men healthy in the modern NBA, but if anyone can crack the code, it’s the Suns. I don’t want to be writing the same article about Andre Drummond, DeMarcus Cousins and Derrick Favors a decade from now.

I feel a lot better about taking Len with his injury problems after reading this article :)

It also helps that the Suns are getting a big man at the beginning of his career. In terms of games lost, over the two seasons in MD it seems that Len played all games except for one after his initial suspension was served, and all games but one in his second season. (Correct me if I'm wrong--I just did a quick check.)

I wonder how much of the disappearing act he's being criticized for had to do with playing while injured. Anyone know anything about it?

I'm inclined to accept the explanation that his guard play was very substandard and had a lot to do with his inconsistency.

i'm incline to go with that as well, but still not crazy about his rebounding numbers, minutes played.

Just an FYI, you shouldnt link entire articles. Quote a small excerpt and provide the link, posting the entire thing can get the site in copyright trouble.

I'd be interested to see why we haven't gone after Oden. It's likely he'll never play again, but if any staff could get him back, you'd figure it would be us.

it's probably because they know they are a great medical staff and not miracle workers.

He's being recruited by five teams, including the Heat and Spurs

I see the luxury for him to join a team like the Suns to see if they can work on his knees and help jumpstart his basketball career, but for him to be on a championship caliber team where the expectations would be low and the talent around would be high is a good springboard for him.

Or Bynum. Though I think if any team were to sign Bynum they should offer him like $5M/yr for like 3 year length with team options after every single season if that's possible.

Bynum was reportedly refusing to workout for all teams

That's like the car salesman asking you to buy the car but refusing to allow you to drive it.

HUGE, STUPIDLY LARGE RED FLAG. The team that signs Bynum without a workout and medical exam gets exactly what they deserve.

…after knowing the car was in a collision and was in the shop for a year.

No thanks to that guy. Trading for him turned the 76ers from a team that could do well in the Eastern playoffs to a team that is in full rebuild mode.

I wouldnt touch Bynum with a 10 foot pole. Cancer, degenerative knees and a player who flat out quits when the going gets tough.

I know the Suns are great for rehabbing careers etc, but I do wish we could rehab a player that is worth keeping, or if he is worth keeping, is willing to stay.

Kevin Love is someone I have in mind. Love has missed significant amount of games in 3 of his 5 years in the NBA. That's a lot.

If he continues to miss so many games, I can see Minnesota perhaps being not too eager to resign him once his contract expires. Or he may even be avialble for trade before that.

If the Sun training staff thinks they can keep him healthy after doing a physical check up on him, then it would be worth the gamble.

This is all assuming that Love would leave Minny and come here which is perhaps a stretch.

Plus that we want Kevin Love, a player that is clearly not a franchise player, a big man that plays zero defense, injury prone and has been a loser in the NBA without exception so far.

I wouldn't sign Love to come be a franchise player here, I would be hoping that Bledsoe, Len or Goodwin hits their complete potential and become that for us. Even then it would be nice to get a complimentary All Star like Love alongside them.

Looks like Len had ankle surgery today.

"Precautionary." Little scary, but I guess I have to trust this training staff.

They found the beginnings of a stress fracture there and they took care of it early. They say that it will heal so that both ankles will be ready by training camp.

He is young, he is still growing, his growth plates are still open. He added around 40 lbs in the last two years. Its a time to be careful. The kid is lucky, he is in the best place in the world to prepare him physically for the long career ahead of him.
