Seems to me that Miami would be a bad fit for Nash. Both Wade and LeBron need the ball in their hands alot. Atlanta would be a great fit for Nash, but we would want something good in return. But they do have some good players to offer in return.

Just don't see how it would work.

I agree. We have seen what happens (Shaq) to Steve when there is another player on the court that needs the ball. Steve is still not very good at half court sets. With the ball in Wade and LeBrons hands that will happen alot (reseting the play at half court).

I agree. Bad fit.

Atlanta would also be a bad fit too wouldnt it? Doesnt Johnson need the ball in his hands to be successful? He doesnt play the same role he did in PHX with Atlanta.

But if not, they should sent J-Smoove, Teague & Pachulia for Lopez & Nash. They can start lopez to put Al as the PF and Nash is an upgrade over Bibby if Johnson is cool with it.

Then our front court would be set for the future with Gortat & Smith. Teague can be a good player off the bench.

I would do that trade. I think Chad Ford and others said that Atlanta is the only real destination for Nash and that it would take giving up Smith to get him.

Atlanta plus Nash minus Smith is nowhere near a contender. That trade wouldn't help Nash at all.

I'm not sure NY couldn't be a destination for Nash if the Knicks are serious about making a deep run in the playoffs. Nash seems to like NY and of course there is Amare and DA. The question would be how does DA view Nash compared to Felton.

would the Hawks really give up Smith to get Nash?! I'd be stunned if that happened.

Hey, if they're that stupid, God bless them. Hell, beyond Dud, tell them they can have any other three players as well. Beyond Dud and Gortat, (and possibly Goran) I really see no pressing need to keep anybody.

Also it might seem like a reach, but I wouldn't rule out Nash going back to Dallas. I could see Nash and Kidd working well together. That could be a very tough back court in the playoffs. I think if Cuban could redo letting Nash go he would have done so. It also would be a reunion of Dirk and Steve. I have to think Nash still has fond memories about playing there.

The more I think about a trade like this the more I like it for both teams, especially if Cuban wants that championship now.

I'd like to see Nash traded for Marion. Its rare for two players to be traded for each other twice and play together on the same team for 4 years.

I'm not looking at this trade in regards as a lateral move for Dallas and I'm certainly not thinking about reacquiring Marion. I'm just thinking two PGs of the caliber of Kidd and Nash could be the ticket for Dallas. This could actually improve Dallas as a contender and it might get them over the hump. I also like Dallas better than most of the teams around the league and I think the Suns could get the best return for Nash.

Also to clarify, I think Dallas could play Kidd and Nash together. If I were Dallas I would be all over this as a short term ticket to get a championship.

Who cares? Dont you mean that trade wouldn't help Atlanta, therefore it makes little sense for them to move on this hypothetical deal?
Suns needs>Nash's needs
As much as I agree with you on most issues, I can't help but feel that, if we move Steve, it should be for his chance to win a championship.

Both for our feel-good emotions and for how he has given his all (within his limitations) for the Suns after we brought him back.

It also might play a positive role in influencing a good player to want to become part of the Suns family, which was the case during JC's tenure.

Small-ball notwithstanding, Jerry was loyal to his people.
