Leaders: Points: Leandro Barbosa 14 (PHX); Nick Collison 12 (SEA); Assists: Leandro Barbosa 5; Mateen Cleaves; Rebounds: Nick Collison 11 (SEA); Maciej Lampe 10 (PHX)

The Sonics found themselves in a hole early, missing their first 12 shots of the game and finding themselves scoreless until a Nick Collison jumper put them on the board with 3:30 remaining in the quarter. Meanwhile, Suns Leandro Barbosa continued to play well the Reebok Rocky Mountain *****, scoring seven points as the Suns started the game on a 15-0 run. Phoenix would use their height to give them a 16-10 advantage on the boards, with five by Maciej Lampe, helping them give to a 21-10 lead at the end of the quarter.

The athletic play of Leon Smith gave the Sonics a big spark; blocking four shots which led to easy transition baskets and closed the Suns’ lead to five. But with Leon Smith exiting the game to take a breather, the Suns were able to get things started again, going on a 10-2 run led by four points by Casey Jacobsen and scoring 14 points in the paint; taking a 41-26 lead to the locker room at the half. Seattle’s Nick Collison quietly had a solid half, scoring ten points and grabbing eight boards.

The Suns continued to be able to score points in the paint; netting 14 of their 20 third-quarter points close to the hoop. The Suns bench gave them a spark with 11 points in the quarter with Derrick Dial and Chuck Eidson each dropped in four points. Even though they were unable to make much of a dent in the Phoenix lead, the quarter was not all lost. James Singleton finally got going with eight points, while Damien, who struggled to score much in the previous two quarter, scored five points, but still trailed.

The Suns continued to add to their lead during the final quarter; pushing it as high as 19 points on an Arthur Johnson put-back. The Sonics continued to struggle from the field, shooting 25 percent in the quarter, but were able to get five points from one of their reserves, David Young, who scored five points in just six minutes. Nick Collison of the Sonics netted a double-double; 12 points, 11 rebounds and so did Suns’ Maciej Lampe; 12 points, 10 rebounds.
