i don't know what's uglier... our play tonight or my mental image of a million suns fans whining in unison over this game. Detroit, yeah, we got some bad calls (although we did ourselves no favors with missed FTs/given up OR, not to mention getting gifted with Nash's FTs), but tonight? Come on folks. We opened the 2nd half having less life than my G-ma Anne... and she's been dead for 15 years!

I wonder what speech was given in the Suns locker room at half time. They played a great 2nd quarter but the 2nd half was terrible. Oh well, on to the next game.....

Didn't you see the ESPN wired segment? D'Antoni told them to be patient. The players thought it was Opposite Wednesday.

In your minds, does this loss undo our win against them a month ago? I wish the Suns will stop having awful games like these they cast a huge shadow of doubt when I really, really wanna believe. :(

Al McCoy said it best tonight:

"You can not expect to get calls when you have played as soft as the Suns have played tonight."

But it's okay. I'm not jumping off bridges yet. Still a little way to go. We're not as good as our 7 game streak and we're not as bad as our 2 game streak. Still work to do and hopefully these two games, and tonight especially is a wake-up call that there's still work to be done, because there definitely is work to be done. Can it be? I don't know, but I'm sure as hell a lot more interested to find out than I was earlier this season and that's saying something... what, I have NO idea (trib to Rodney!).

In the 2nd, our bench with Gordan and Boris hung in there for us first and then Nash changed the pace when in. This must have confused the celtics who was having a huge lead from 1st.

In the 3rd, they adjusted to Nash led moving offense and rotated perfectly to cover our players. They forced the turnovers and we couldn't stop them from grabbing offensive rebounds with our zone defense. Barbosa is totally shell-shocked as he always is against good teams. DA had no answer to the defensively refocused Celtics in the 2nd half, while no plan to correct our defensive woos. The humiliation was inevitable.

I still believe in them too...but it's just so frustrating to see them play so well and tough one game, but then so soft and lacksidasical in the next.

Thanks. I knew the Celtics adjusted but wasn't sure exactly how they did it.

THOUGHTS ON BARBOSA?
I had to listen via radio tonight. I'll watch it later. Dissappointing loss for sure.
I can't stand Barbosa anymore. Every time he gets the ball i wanna look away....for fear of the tunnel-vision head down drive or the turnover. Barbs defense is making Stoudemire look like a stopper as of late. I think i could get my shot off against this guy!.........and lets be honest here, Barbs has the perfect NBA body to disrupt opposing guards and get into the passing lanes but it appears that he hasn't been coached much in these areas. Next game watch the body language of a Grant Hill or Giricek when Barbs calls for the ball to run the offense(when NASH sits obviously) because i noticed Hill very hesitantly and reluctantly give up the ball to Barbs a couple times recently.(Once during the Pistons game) Barbosa's becoming a liability in my eyes. We're lucky that Boris has shown a pulse and that Gears is playing well.
Sorry, a bit off topic and prob should be on another thread.

I thought we played good getting back into the game in the 1st half, but the turnovers, lack of defense, and poor shooting cost us the 2nd half and the game. I think we need to drastically assess the defense situation because the offensive situation is fine. I am very disappointed in this loss, but I know the Suns can play better.

On the other side, I am not sold on the Boston Celtics yet. Sure, they will end up with the best record in the NBA, but in recent memory the best regular season team didn’t win the championship. You all could point to the East and say if they get past the Detroit Pistons, they have it on lock down, but I disagree. Remember, this team hasn’t proven anything yet. The only players to win a championship are Posey and Cassell and they aren’t going to win playoff games single handedly. People need to remember last season with the Mavericks, losing to the Warriors in the first round. I am not saying that is going to happen to the Celtics, but you know…

Wait and crown them when they actually win a championship. Until then, mention them as the best regular season team this season, but that’s it.

actually, i'm glad you went off topic. b/c when barbs and diaw decided that they'd rather pass it to the guys in green for that (what seemed like) 10 possession stretch in the second half i wanted to shoot both of them. how does dantoni stomach that?

Watching the Suns give the ball up to the Celtics 3 times in a row was like getting tooth pulled out.

even Hubie Brown sounded like he wanted to run onto the court and slap the Suns players for just ridiculous Turn Overs...

the Suns if they cut down the Turn Overs by about 5 a game, will no doubt be the favourties to win it all. They allow the other team to get momentum and confidence by just giving up the ball... then when the Suns do force a TO, they will launch a 3 pointer without opting to go inside first.... when your down 3-4 baskets and you have the chance to score an easy basket inside... with 9 minutes to go, you'd do it... you dont launch a 3 pointer when you dont have to, open or not... the percentages is against you... an open corner three from a kick back from inside is different as that basically draws defense in then frees the outside... as opposed to launching 3s without going inside.... its not smart.

Diaw is frigging retarted with the ball in his hands. I really hope the Suns can get rid of Diaw this offseason for nothing in return.

If you read 7 Seconds or Less, you pretty much get the picture that D'Antoni doesn't like Barbosa. He and his brother argue all the time about Barbosa and his roll on the team.

Diaw only had 1 turnover last night. Our problems in the third quarter were Amare and Raja. Sad but true.

i did read it. really a fascinating read. but i don't remember dantoni being down on barbs (though not refuting your comment, just don't remember, that was well over a year ago). but it begs the next question then . . . if dantoni's not enamored with barbs, why do we still not have a backup point? i always thought that we didn't have a backup point b/c dantoni was so stubborn that he felt he could keep pounding the square peg (barbs) into the round hole (backup pg). if that's not the case, why NO BACKUP PG?!?!?

(sorry, all caps outta frustration, not yelling at you chris)

barbs had a slew of TOs in the quarter too. it must've been barbs and raja that were trading TOs in the third quarter. i just lost my shizzzzzz during that span.

We did an absolutely deplorable job on the boards, so guys completely slacked this game.

Raja gets injured and everytime the first few games back he does terrible.

Hopefully this is just one of those game and the team gets off their ass and focuses and works hard for gods sake, otherwise we are sunk. There is just no reason other then complete laziness to get beat that bad on the boards.

We were lazy and just flat played the second half like crap! When you have 20+ turnoevers your lucky to beat ANY TEAM in the NBA let alone arguably the best team.

This team has a turnover bug period. We get too sloppy with the ball and make stupid mistakes. I think alot of it has to do with the team doesn't seem to know when to run, when to play halfcourt etc.. They look confused sometimes on which it is they should be doing at times.

They cannot turn the ball over in a playoff game 20 times. They do and they lose.
