The 3 picks we got are leveraged so severely between several teams (with us getting last dibs) that they are all likely to be in the late 20s. The pick we sent out is likely to be very high. Even if Booker stuck it out until then, he'd be in year... 15? With no quality picks and a bunch of old old assets on huge contracts it is very hard to see how this team is even remotely competitive in the last couple years of the decade.

Although it will likely not effect traded draft picks, the current CBA expires after the 2029-30 season. Hopefully the new one is less punitive with increased revenue from expansion and television.

Our own which was controlled by someone else. We were able to trade it once we got three pick back for the 31’ picks

The Durant trade is the most damaging trade in Suns history but I wouldn't be surprised if we look back on this Jazz deal as being the most nonsensical.
A totally unprotected pick in a year where it is really hard to imagine the Suns being remotely competitive for a few picks that are leveraged so hard they might as well be 2nd rounders.
We all assumed they had some move in waiting, already planned, that would make the trade make sense... but nope... all that followed was a pure contract dump in the Nurkic trade.

They didn't want to look like fools by trading KD, that would only be an admission to their stupidity.

My guess is a trade fell through and the Suns resorted to plan B, getting under the 2nd tax apron.

Suns are my Kryptonite!
Plus all the guys that we could trade for in a one for many, or one for one, didn't really net us a player that moved the needle. We need to get under the second apron to aggregate player to get someone better at center. We have to get into a higher salary range for that. Or get lucky in the G League search, low draft picks, etc. I think we get under the apron, make a trade that sends us back over it. That is if that's the only move we make. Barring a KD or Booker trade, that's about all we can do.
