The Suns play at the Grizzlies tonight with an Arizona start time of 6 PM. See more information about the game from a Paul Coro article at azcentral dated 1-10-14 which contains links regarding Eric Bledsoe's knee surgery.

Suns (21-13) at Grizzlies (15-19) … 6 p.m. Phoenix tip time

C: Miles Plumlee … Kosta Koufos

PF: Channing Frye … Zach Randolph

SF: P.J. Tucker … Tayshaun Prince

SG: Gerald Green … Mike Miller

PG: Goran Dragic … Mike Conley Jr.

Key Grizzlies injuries: Marc Gasol (knee), Quincy Pondexter (foot fracture) and Tony Allen (wrist) are out.

Key Grizzlies reserves: Courtney Lee, Ed Davis, James Johnson, Jon Leuer, Nick Calathes.

I think Dragic summarizes the game fairly well.

* The last word goes to Suns guard Goran Dragic: “They’re a tough matchup for us because they put the ball with their bigs and play a lot of bully game. They’re not good in the open court so it probably depends who imposes their will. If we play fast and in the open court, we’re going to be in good shape. If not, they’re going to play a slow game and we’re going to have trouble.”

I'm expecting to see a "bully game" tonight.

Just a few minutes into the postgame locker room hubbub at Minnesota on Wednesday night, Suns guard Gerald Green changed the topic from the rally to beat Minnesota to how they needed to pay back Memphis next. After losing twice this season to a 15-19 team, the Suns do not want to guarantee losing the season series to them with another defeat tonight at FedEx Forum.

We owe these guys,” Green said. “This is a great team we’re playing. They went to the Western Conference finals last year. They’re established. They’ve beaten us twice this year. We feel like we need to beat this team to get back on track. We want to be able to be tied with this team at the end of the season. It might be a factor. We have to rebound better and be a lot more physical than we were the first two games with them and play our game getting up and down.”

The Suns scored 91 points, 12 below their season average, in each of the losses against Memphis this season. The first one came with Memphis missing Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph but the Grizzlies got 58 points from Ed Davis (21), Jon Leuer (career-high 23) and Kosta Koufos (14) on the revised front line. When they met again on Jan. 2, Memphis had Randolph back and the Suns were missing Bledsoe. Dragic scored a career-high 33 but his teammates only made 24 of 68 shots (35 percent).

“We can’t give up any easy baskets,” Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said. “We’ve got to rebound. It’s going to be like Minnesota where we’ve got to box people out. We can’t let the bench hurt us. Their bench has hurt us both games so our bench really has to step up.”

Phoenix native Jerryd Bayless hurt the Suns in the last meeting with 17 points, including a big fourth quarter, but Memphis traded him this week to Boston and Courtney Lee was acquired.
I think Bayless being out will be huge. He averages career highs against PHX.

In both games against Memphis this season, Plumlee, Frye and the Morris twins balls have shrunk in half. They play like middle school kids.

They have to play tough and actually step up instead of running scared against Memphis bigs. Koufos is hot garbage, I'm gonna throw my remote at my TV if I see him killing the Suns again.

I hope Len can make a difference defensively with his size and length.

I agree with much of what you are saying but 24 year old center Kosta Koufos is not what I would call "hot garbage." He averages 7.7 ppg and 7.2 rpg this season. The Grizzlies have a big front line and depth to support it. These are the type games I want the Morris twins to grow longer arms.

Barbosa can really help the Suns with his penetration to the rim. He looks as fast as ever. If only he can get better at finishing.

The little lights are starting to twinkle with Len. If he can improve every season and stay healthy, he will be a find.

The Suns need a fix at PF and I'm not talking about Frye.

just got home and Green draining 2 3s...nice. How is Len doing?

Len looks like he is starting to understand the game but he is a ways off. However, he looks more and more like he belongs out there.

cool thanks. If he can really learn and understand how to play defense and rebound this season then that will be a huge win for this team

OT: but I'm also watching the Miami and Brooklyn game and the players are wearing jerseys with their nicknames on the back instead of the regular jerseys...seems kinda dumb to me

He plays like a Center. He knows he's 7 feet tall with long arms, and he acts like someone that size should act. He does some dumb stuff, but that's to be expected. He moves much better than I thought he'd move coming back from a foot injury.

When he adds a little muscle he could really be a factor on defense. I loved that block on Randolph in the first half.

This loss will be on Dragic. Conley destroyed him, and Goran has been a complete non-factor in the fourth. 100% useless.

Memphis just destroys Phoenix inside.

If Memphis makes playoffs, Suns get swept and lose each game by at least 15 imo. Especially if Marc Gasol's back.

Dragic's always been a terrible defender. I have said it before, opposing PGs lit us up last season with Dragic guarding them.

What's the point of having PJ Tucker if we can't put him on the opposing PG who's lighting us up? Dragic should have never been guarding Conley, should have been Tucker.

Charles Barkley: "You don't live by the 3, you only die by the 3".

Yes, the voice of a champion. How many rings did he win? The three point shot is here to stay, Charles is a dinosaur. You need more than the three point shot but it isn't as simple as you and he make it out to be.
