Really had this down as a loss even with there stars out. Miami is a tuff out. Booker came to play hopefully he can sell the Suns to a top notch player.

Can Johnson is blossoming before our eyes. I’m actually reminded of Booker, drafted at 13 and known as a shooter only. Nobody thought he would turn out like this. Could Cam be heading down a similar path?

Maybe, but remember that Johnson is eight months older than Booker. He doesn't have nearly as much clock to work with.

I think his only chance at becoming a potential All-Star is in San Antonio for Pop.

Not really. I'm only saying that Pop did one hell of a job developing Parker and I think he could do the same with Carter as Carter has more solid fundamentals at this stage than Parker did. Other than that though I don't think they should be compared.

I agree, he'll likely never be more than a bench guy, but every good team seems to have an 8th or 9th guy that can step in and help you win a few games. Carter, with his shot missing, is a great defender that can give your starters a few minutes of rest. And when his shot is on, he can change the texture of the game on both ends. The kind of player that the Spurs and the Heat love IMO.

Not really. I'm only saying that Pop did one hell of a job developing Parker and I think he could do the same with Carter as Carter has more solid fundamentals at this stage than Parker did. Other than that though I don't think they should be compared.

I love Carter... as a depth/bench option. He’s not a starter and will never be a starter - at least not on any contending team.
I have a ton of respect for Pop... but, c’mon man... Pop isn’t God.
Carter is probably better than Parker defensively. But that’s it.

I hope the Suns don't miss the date to waive Okobo and make a qualifying offer for Carter. These dates have changed but I'm not sure when the new dates are. I'm sure the Suns FO is on top of it but still it's a concern.

I hope the Suns don't miss the date to waive Okobo and make a qualifying offer for Carter. These dates have changed but I'm not sure when the new dates are. I'm sure the Suns are on top of it but still it's a concern.

Those dates have been pushed quite a ways. No need to worry about that until the season and playoffs are over. Then we'll see people getting waived and options picked up across the league. Okobo is definitely a goner, probably back to Europe. I liked the kid but he's just not an NBA talent.


To everyone else. I'll admit I have rose colored glasses on when viewing Carter. He's probably my favorite Sun other than Booker and is one of my top 5 favorites of the last decade. I'll openly admit that I've always been drawn to backup guards on the Suns. From the early days of my fandom and watching Negele Knight, Duane Cooper, Trevor Ruffin, Elliot Perry, young Steve Nash, Randy Livingston, Barbosa, and Ish Smith. Even though we've had a revolving door of backup PG's lately though I haven't really taken a liking to any of them until Carter. I did like Ulis in his rookie year but he became a bit selfish with the ball in his 2nd year and couldn't shoot either.

I'm a point guard fan as well. I thought Negele Knight would have a much better career. Also I liked Socks, Barbosa, Ish Smith and early Nash too.

I wanted Fox and Shai in the draft but it appears I missed on Jerome as a late first round pick.

Jevon Carter is a keeper minimally as a defensive specialist but he has become a 3-point shooter and even a spot duty point guard. He brings a lot to the table.

Yeah, I think Okobo will be waived.

Mostly agree, but Randy Livingston? Ugh. He will always live in infamy for me as the guy who effectively ended Tom Gugliotta's career...
