Anyone understand why Fitz was there?

Only a guess but Fitz would give the search an appearance of legitimacy and I understand Sarver and Fitz are friends.

The above referenced article uses the word "expected" about the hiring and Gambo doesn't have an announcement on twitter.

All right, here is the tweet confirming the hire... almost. It still uses the word "expected" in the article.

Actually I think it might actually be the opposite, I've seen a lot of comments ridiculing Sarver for inviting Fitz to the meeting. Myself, I suspect Fitz is looking at his next career and Sarver is trying to help him along his way. I don't know if he's also preparing him for a role with the Suns but I sure wouldn't dismiss that possibility.

This could well be. I think Fitz has a future with the Arizona Cardinals but he may be getting some practical experience along the way.

Fitz' reputation does give the Suns a touch of credibility.

I wish Adrian Wojnarowski, Shams Charania, Gina Mizell or Duane Rankin would put something up about the hire being confirmed.

They are too busy with the Lakers at the moment.

Even Evan Sidery doesn't have the hiring up. I think the hiring will happen but I can't help but wonder if Gambo is trying to get ahead of the story.

Jeff Bower has agreed to a deal to become the Senior VP of Basketball Operations with the Phoenix Suns, league sources tell ESPN. Bower has been to the playoffs as a GM with Detroit and New Orleans.

The real question is what does that mean

Maybe I know the answer - Jones, Buckstein, and Bower discuss moves - and Sarver makes the actual decision.

I like this move. Bower is not a big name but he's someone who knows the league and has built a successful small market team before. He's made some good trades and draft picks in his past and he was also in the league recently so it's not like he needs to play catch up to get up to speed with the current league landscape. I'd like to see how responsibilities are split between Bower, Jones, and Bukstein but I'll settle for word that James Jones and Bukstein are staying, which I believe will be discussed in a Bower press conference.

Not sure about the timing behind this move but could this have been done so he could sit in on exit interviews with players and coaches? Not saying it's bad timing or anything like that, I'm more curious if he'll be able to do that now that he's been hired.

please God let this be true. Just to give a shred of someone people like running things... even as a figurehead.

How does having a retired football player who works for the front office of a competing local sports franchise as a part-owner of the Suns lend any credibility to the Suns franchise?
