The Nuggets have their own free agents. Andrews said his client, restricted free agent center Francisco Elson, is drawing interest from the San Antonio Spurs and the Suns have inquired about a sign-and-trade. "I expect San Antonio will make an offer (the Nuggets would have seven days to match any signed offer sheet)," Andrews said. "But I don't know if it will be (today) or not."

Elson is one of those "diamond in the rough" type players. He's played well when given the minutes, but can't seem to get them in Denver. He would be a good pickup, but San Antonio is hot after any center in the league--I'll doubt that we will want to compete with their offer.

the suns might offer JR in a sign and trade and use the rest of the TE(1.8 mil) to make an offer. I dont know much about these types of deals. Anyone out there that does know have a comment? This would work for the nuggets as they are desperate for 3pt shooters. The spurs might offer Barry who would be much less desirable than Jones.

I think Elson might cost more than that for a Western Conference foe. Just a guess, but I think he'll want more money than the Suns would be willing to pay him ... just because he's a legit center in a league short on legit centers.

That could be true, but I suspect the nuggets wish they could get JR(+future 2nd round pick??) for him. Its almost like the NBA teams are trying to do everything possible to keep perimeter players away from Denver. The nuggets are apparently hot on Korver, JR is really a better fit for the nuggets(running team).

The spurs can offer the MLE for him if I recall correctly.

If the Spurs want to give him the MLE, then they can have him. I want no part of Francisco Elson for that much money.

It's amazing the dried up free agency is causing these "diamonds-in-the-rough" type players even considered for the MLE type of money...

I thought we had agreed that the Suns are not interested in a "Legit Center"? At least, that is how I view the Suns playing style.

"Gay" Elson is going on 30. IMO he's Mark Blount without the consistent jumper.

If the Suns get Salmons, sign-and-trade would probably mean JR. I would actually prefer to keep JR--hate to say it, but the Suns are going to need JR's shooting next season. And, of course, the only point in signing Elson to a significant contract is dumping KT.

Elson would not see any playing time on this team, so why even bother?

A trade i would like to see is us and Minnesota hooking up...

Suns Trade: Kurt Thomas,James Jones and One of our First Rounder in 07 (Not ATL)

Minnesota Trades: Mark Blount and Eddie Griffin

Might need someone else making peanuts from Minny as a cap filler.

But We get two legit bigmen that can score and one is a very good shotblocker and can hit the three.

I would love to see what Griffin could do starting next to Amare and Nash.

Another is James Jones and First rounder (Not ATL) for Eddie Griffin by himself.

Agreed. And while JR isnt exactly huge, he is about 6'8 - 6'9 and a solid "dirt worker." He lost his shot shortly after his injury, and I fully expect him to regain it next season. If anyone remembers, he was putting up great numbers early on until the injury.

If anything, its going to be JR that takes over TT's role.

I'd rather see what the Gorilla will do when Griffin visits with an opposing team. Might be the game to leave the kiddies at home.

The Suns will need a big body once Amare gives up on his comeback because the pain is too severe.

The Griffin of two years ago would be f'n awesome, but the Suns will never, ever go for him. You might as well recommend they sign Qyntel Woods.

Blount's contract is radioactive--it makes the rump of KT's contract look downright responsible by comparison. The Wolves don't have enough first-round picks left to entice the Suns to nail themselves to Blount.

Don't worry, they'll make that trade when the time comes. The Suns aren't known for planning too far in advance.

I still would love Griffin, he would be the perfect F/C to play with Amare, and he can knock down the three.

Yeah he a slight headcase off the court, but i think he would kill in our system.

And Blount makes $5.5Mil per and Kurt makes damn near $8Mil.

"a slight head case"? You must be joking. This guy is a wreck. I'm sorry, but to suggest with any seriousness that the Phoenix Suns should/would try to acquire him is laughable. They wouldn't touch him if he had only half of his problems.

Elson would be nice, but he's going to get seriously overpaid by somebody. There are going to be a lot of teams regretting their signings this summer. I only hope the Phoenix Suns aren't one of them.

Elson would be a nice addition as an athletic role playing center, especially on defense.

Also, I'm just plain tired of the Suns always being undersized when opposing teams try to pound the ball inside.

Skkorpion - I want to save your posts for the future. You either will be called a "soothsayer" and be praised down the road for standing your ground and making such a bold prediction that was correct. Or, you will not be allowed on the bandwagon wants it gets started.

I for one will kick you in the teeth when you try to hopp on board in April. If you are right, it won't matter much to me, because I will be too depressed to pay any attention.

If an opposition fan had've posted something like that, he would've been labelled a troll and been banished for all eternity

I know, it is his world and we all live in it, I get it. I wasn't being disrespectful, just calling it like I see it... with a sense of humor or course. Well, at least I amuse myself.

Skorp is a Cardinals fan first. He just can't help expecting the worst. :p

Elson is a nice looking player, but IMHO he's not an impact player. For the right price.

AND..?

This board is great because we all have our own opinions... I dont think anyone deserves special treatment. And I dont think Skorp would want it either...
