I'm a little upset that we can't take care of him for now. I mean we aren't going to make any deals that will put us to the top 4 in the west.

That's a shame kind of he's one of my favorite Suns

It's possible that Leandro requested to be not picked up. Frees him to go back to a non-rebuilding situation. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back at GSW or maybe reunite with D'antoni in Houston, both probably better situations for him.

I like lb great role player but i think suns should release him and let him try and sign with a playoff team in his final few yrs left.

If he can sign with a contender it's cool. If he's out of the league it's a dang shame.

Certainly not a move the Colangeli would do. And they were the people that made Phx a destination for all players.

If he's out of the league that's all you need to know. It's not a shame. The NBA is not a charity. You get paid to fulfill a role. The Suns determined that barbosa no longer filled a role. I'm okay with that.

Thanks barbs for your service. You were a classy representative of the Suns and Phoenix.

Barbosa can still play, he proved that last season. Despite never being a true star, he was one of my favorite Suns players in the last 15-20 years. I can definitely see him going back to Golden State for the minimum or Houston, who might be able to pay him a little more than that. The Rockets would be making the right move paying him just a little bit more to keep him from rejoining Golden State. The Warriors are losing Ian Clark this offseason, so they could use someone off the bench at SG and Barbosa has a history there and playing with everyone, especially Livingston and Iggy in their 2nd unit.

I find it surprising so many people are questioning the decision to let him go though. When he was playing last season, many here called for Ulis to get those minutes and then when Ulis started getting more time they wanted to see Ulis play more or see Derrick Jones get Barbosa's minutes.

If I'm Cleveland, I jump all over him. At least he can bring a little offense to the second unit as opposed to Deron Williams' rotting corpse.

Barbosa left a championship team to come back "home", then we cut him. It makes sense from a basketball standpoint, but it doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. Every time I think Sarver is taking a step forward, he shows his true self...

How do you know that Barbosa didn't want to be cut so he can actually play next year instead of sitting on the bench?

Oh good grief. It's a business not a charity. You can't run a team on sentimentality. If Sarver kept a player like Barbosa here just because it is "home" rather than committing to his younger players then he is just weak--no balls at all.

They could not cut him and have him at the end of the bench just fine. It's not exactly like they're strapped for cash.

How you run your business matters. Take care of your workers and think about your reputation. It's not just dollars and cents.

The Suns are preparing for moves via trade or free agency and the trade deadline next year. The Suns need salary space to make such moves. If the Suns could have signed Barbosa for the veteran minimum he might still be on the roster. However, Barbosa would have been on the books for another 3.5 million dollars if they kept him. Cap space has significant value in the NBA.

Barbosa signed a 2 year contract with only the 1st year fully guaranteed. He and his agent aren't idiots.

I agree that how you run your business matters. What we don't know if whether or not Barbosa wanted to sit on the bench with a young team or go and play somewhere else. If he wanted to stay, I would have kept him, but we don;t know that he wanted to stay.

For all-time suns you do that. For a barbosa you don't.

Easy for you to spend another person's money. You're literally advocating to pay someone millions of dollars just to be nice.

How you run your business does matter, we used to get a Danny Manning for nothing. Now we can't sign any good free agent.

This isn't the same NBA that it was 20 years ago. Look at all of the discount free agent signings this summer... I think Derrick Rose would be the only signing that would qualify as a discount signing and that is largely because of the injuries he's suffered over the last few years.

Um, tax payers paid for that arena. I've paid for season tickets. When Sarver gets cheap, I have a right to voice my concerns. And it's not about being nice, there's a reason why free agents only pretend to be interested in Phx since Sarver took over.

Makes no sense whatsoever. Barbosa, even if he stayed, wouldn't have gotten playing time, with or without Knight's injury. I like Barbosa just fine, but at some point you have to go with what's best for the team.

Not picking up his option isn't a slap in the face, no matter how vindictive you think it is.

It doesn't make sense why free agents no longer like Phx? Yet, Phx is now the fastest growing city in the nation? That's nonsensical.

I know this is a popular thought, but where is your proof that free agents don't like Phoenix? Because we don't sign any? That's ridiculous. You want to keep a guy because in your mind, he's the only FA that was open to signing with us. That's just not true. Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge... Even Tyson Chandler decided he'd rather stay with us than move on.

You're overplaying something to support an unsupportable argument.
