It looks like Rex has a permanent seat with the Sarver brain trust now, along with Kerr and BC.

Now all they need is someone who can scout big men. ;)

I thought putting Marco Crespi on the full-time payroll was a good move. Don't know much about him, but "International Scouting Director" seems like a long overdue title. If Marco brings in quality beef, can we refer to those players as "Crespi Creams?"

Or at least change their parameters by which they grade big men. They always shy away from the kids with rock hands. Often these are the shot blockers they've been missing. Someone should tell them it's OK to take one of these every now and then, especially if he's long, athletic, and available in the second round.

Suns Might Sign Williams

Scott Williams, the center who was popular with teammates, coaches and the front office in his season-and-a-half stint with the Suns, appears to be the final player on the team's radar screen before the season starts.

Williams, who was released in January so he could join the Dallas Mavericks, is a free agent who might sign soon with the Suns, club president Bryan Colangelo indicated.

"We have expressed an interest in doing something with Scott Williams," and the Suns hope to "finalize discussions with him shortly," Colangelo said. In his previous Suns stint, "I think he was a good influence on the team," Colangelo said. So good that the Suns talked about making him an assistant coach someday.

This time around, "If it works out and he signs, it will be a good addition."

That certainly sounds like they feel it is close to being a done deal.

A lot of people question whether Scott has anything left in the tank, but his play with the Suns last season was really not bad considering he came off an injury:

16 games, 16.7 minutes per game, 7.3 ppg 52.5% shooting, and 4.5 rpg. It is not out of the question that he might get some playing time if Hunter and/or Lampe don't play well.

I'd rather see Scott as a coach. I just don't think he has enough left in the tank. Is he really worth a roster spot?

That's the way I see it too Phill11. Let's try to get Nene from Denver. :)

Would a trade involving players like Casey, Zarko and perhaps Chicago's pick do it? I believe Nene could play center and even back-up the PF position and he is young.

However, I doubt Denver would let us have him.

For some odd reason, I still have a feeling Curry can be a great player. I'd be willing to take a chance on him.

I agree Curry could be a good player if he wanted to. But his work ethic dictates otherwise, along with his propensity to blow up ala Oliver Miller has me concerned.

Curry certainly has the talent, but even if he got his act together I'm not sure he's a fit. His main attraction is that he is a very good low post offensive player. But that's not what the Suns need from a center, they need a guy who can play defense, rebound, pass the ball, and run. That does not not describe Curry.
