Well, we know he's had ongoing hamstring/groin pull problems for several years now. Sometimes he misses games but all too often he plays through the injury and always disappoints when he does. But lifestyle choices? We don't really know anything. It's just speculation based on when he got involved and how he played after that happened, that plus rumors about his active night life.

I personally try not to let myself speculate. If we don't really know anything, we don't. Speculation about then-young Dan Majerle's active night life led to false rumors that he was gay. There might also have been false rumors that he used drugs, although I remember that less clearly. The point is that speculation usually leads to being wrong, and being wrong is embarrassing. I'd rather leave Booker's night life alone unless he starts getting in fights like Charles Barkley did (or like the Morris twins did), which won't happen because Booker has the wrong personality to get in a fight.

Speculation has also led people on this forum to claim that certain former Suns players "did us wrong" for demanding to be traded. Unless those individuals worked for the Suns and had inside information, or unless other players have told the story and I didn't see it, I have my ideas but I tell myself I ultimately don't know what happened.

I accidentally pinned the entire problem with Booker. His personality is not conducive to playoff success. On the court he's a sheep, not a wolf. He requires teammates that have more fire and more edge. Chris Paul did. Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal don't.

The ironic thing is that Booker's mentor was Kobe Bryant. You would think Booker might absorb some of Bryant's ruthlessness. Nope.

Well at least Jones admitted what was wrong with the team yesterday, specifically defensively. That KD and Book weren't given enough defensive help. We'll see how that manifests itself for next season.

He said this before where he’s recognize the issue. But has never filled the holes.

Yeah, I’ve never heard anything like this about Majerle.
I have to go through my old Barkley-era books to see which one mentioned that--it might have been "Rising To the Top With the Team of Oddities." Ugh. I have a bad feeling I saw that one in a box in my parents' house in Sun City West when my wife and I visited them in January.

But the source made it obvious that the Majerle rumor circulated only when he was quite young, and was a classic case of someone trying too hard to guess why an attractive single guy would keep partying and "inexplicably" not settling down: people who didn't know him started whispering psst, maybe he's gay or something. Eventually he got married during the Barkley era (I remember the newspaper saying the lady's name was Tina Savocchia) and nobody suggested that anymore. And I said it was BS, didn't I? That was the whole point: it's where speculation leads.

The team is going nowhere if they couldn't flip Beal into smaller more manageable contracts, say to Wizards for Poole and Smart, to fill roster gaps like at PG, C, PF.

Gambo replied to tweet asking if the Suns could get their picks back for KD from Houston. This really makes the Rockets a less appealing trade partner.

It wouldn’t be best, but they probably have the best young talent to be thrown into a deal to try and rebuild with.

Then you gotta just hope the KD curse follows him there and we get lucky with a pick or two down the line.

Well, he isn't gay, not that there is anything wrong with that...

But I can tell you, for sure, I know from people connected at GCU that he got canned mostly for his well earned reputation for trying to bang female students on campus.

We really need for them to get crushed and average like 90 points a game.

If we can't get some picks back from them... outside of us pulling some pick like Jokic in round 2, it's really hard to see a path to relevance.

Oh...ugh. I wish such men would grow up.

At least Majerle's personal life never became a distraction for the Suns in any way, unlike some of his teammates. The way Majerle unfailingly played the good soldier for the Suns makes me think of Devin Booker.

Any consideration of whether to trade Kevin Durant should also focus on Durant's personality and whether it possibly reinforces the limitations of Devin Booker's on-court personality. Booker's excessive coolness; his lack of fire and his poor clutch performance. Compare Durant, and what he's done for Booker, with Chris Paul and what he did for Booker. Booker appears to need a teammate to push him. Durant obviously doesn't.

This is why I'm so interested in Collin Gillespie: why I hope the team not only keeps Gillespie but expands his role. When I heard that he is a fiery personality in the locker room (note that Durant himself publicly lauded him), I immediately concluded that he would probably provide some of the fire and leadership that the team lacked this season. And since he is a pretty unknown bench player, he would cost little to retain.
