I can't imagine the Grizzlies trading a 25-year-old Morant for a 36-year-old Durant, even though he has had his share of injuries and suspensions.

It wasn't that long ago that Zion and Morant were at the top of the Suns fans wish list in the 2019 draft.

Agreed, but I do wonder how much Morant is damaged goods at this point and if Memphis is looking for most immediate bang for buck.

Yeah it's risky but I'd jump at the chance. Partly because it resets the clock for us. I can't see him and Devin leading us to a title but given that he's only 25 we have time to try and make something work while still holding the option to trade for value if nothing we try works out. I'd still prefer we trade Devin and the other veterans but if we're not going that route, this sounds more promising than other rumors I've seen.
That’s where I’m at.

The trade wouldn't work right now because of the CBA, but if it were possible, I'd probably do the trade and hope his contract doesn't become a burden like Beal's contract.

The potential silver lining for the league, in the Suns' humiliation, is that it could be the end of the concept of superteams. Owners and FOs could begin to figure out that superteams are not necessarily a good business model.

Between this and the recent yammering about "Heat culture," I figured out anyway that the only reason the lebron james-Dwyane Wade-Chris Bosh Heat team won any championships is because Pat Riley and "Heat culture" kept them disciplined. Had the Suns culture resembled "Heat culture," I'm not sure this Suns would have won a championship, but it probably would have made the playoffs.

So… listening to 98.7 and the word is James Jones is considered the “PG” in finding us a new head coach, but there’s a chance that he could then be “restructured” and the team would go out and find their new GM.

If that is the plan, this franchise is run by even bigger morons than most of us already think. That’s a total backasswards way of doing things.

Find your new GM. New GM finds new head coach.

Lmao nobody is trading Ja for old ass KD. If you want Ja you’re giving up Booker.

Where is all this Ja for KD talk?

So Ish is just a worse owner than Sarver now, if this happens, if you disregard the non-basketball actions that got Sarver kicked from the league. Too early to say perhaps, but boy did our future turn to ish and quick.

Wishful thinking. Even with Ja's off the court antics, it wouldn't happen. He is Memphis, for better or worse. They aren't throwing in the towel on him now. I don't even think they'd trade him for Booker.

It could turn out that way, but I was hoping there might be a learning curve that would take effect about right now.

Let's see how it plays out before we start labeling Ishbia a worse owner than Sarver. Have you guys forgotten Sarver's 10 straight years of malaise? Let's give Ishbia a little time. Yeah, I know, bad start but let's see how he corrects.

I think it's a fair question if he's headed in that direction. The main difference is Sarver was cheap and Ishbia spends foolishly. Sarver was able to turn things around here when he opened the checkbook. Ishbia's checkbook got us into this mess and he can't spend his way out of it, yet he seems to believe he can. We need to take our lumps for the remainder of this decade and stop giving up future assets so there's a light at the end of the tunnel but we'll need to concede the next few years for that to happen.

The pendulum has swung to the other extreme under Ishbia. We're still as far from a title as we were under Sarver but we're learning all over again that spending doesn't equal success, as we did back when Jerry built Backcourt 2000.

First new GM. Then new coach and roster changes. James Jones should only be doing PR and taking vacation days for two whole months. If they get a coach in before a new GM or even worse keep JJ then my faith or patience is reduced to nothing.

The thing is they have shown they can play without Ja. BUT they looked like a #8 without a star.

I don't think JJ is going anywhere but that he will be part of a restructuring. He did pick Monty Williams so we know he can pick a winner sometimes.

My guess is James Jones will be promoted or moved to another job with the Suns.

Then, perhaps at the same time, an announcement will be made about the hire of a new GM.

Job titles are not that important.

We know JJ can do it as he chose Monty Williams once who was the perfect man for the job at the time and helped take us to great heights. I too think JJ will remain in a restructured front office.

It's possible. But I don't want this guy anywhere near any more personnel moves.
