I thought of that too and it is very likely. I doubt the Suns will try to avoid physicals because Amare is not 100%, it will only do more damage to an already crappy rep in the league.
By asking for physicals to be waived they are at least bringing to the fore the possibility Amare may not be 100%.

All a team would have to do is have Amare take a physical, end of speculation. If it is a ploy, it's stupid. Doesn't affect bidding for Amare at all.

Personally I would've loved to have gotten in on the original Houston/Sac deal. Or even just a straight deal with the Rockets.

Amare/J-Rich for McGrady/Landry/Picks

Some people on other forum boards were saying originally when it was just a deal between Sac and Houston, that Sac was gonna waive McGrady and he wanted to go to the Lakers or Cleveland, fans were saying they'd rather see him in LA. I told em all that would be the worst thing for Suns fans. Look what he did tonight in his debut for the Knicks vs OKC.....

31mins.....10-17FG....1-3 3FG....5-7FT.....4Rbd....4Asst....3TO....1St.....26Pts

Crazy that everyone thinks he's washed up. Think had we made a trade of Amare for McGrady, we could've resigned McGrady for about $12-14 and Landry for $8-10mil. So that would've been 2 roster spots that will be at $32Mil, when we probably could've had the 2 spots at $20-24Mil.

What really burns is that New York was able to get him, plus clear enough cap space to add 2 MAX free agents. Yes, McGrady is gonna be a FA as well, but has stated that he's made enough money in his career, that if the Knicks were able to get Lebron/Wade and Bosh/Amare, he'd be willing to take the Mid Level ($5mil) or even the Bi-Annual ($1.8mil) to stay in New York to play with them.

So, look out for New York next year. Just think of the team they could have:

Wade (PG)
McGrady (SG)
Chandler (SF)
Gallinari (PF)
Amare (C)

or

House (PG - resigned)
McGrady (SG)
Chandler/Gallinari (SF)
Lebron (PF)
Bosh (C)

the options are ridiculous

Amare obviously has health concerns. My guess is the Suns didn't want the Rockets to do the trade and then have buyers remorse and nix the trade due to his micrfracture/arthritic knees. Much like the Thunder trading for then cancelling a trade for Chandler a couple years ago because he had a bad back(couldn't have possibly suprised the Thunder since he had missed much of the season because of it).

I can't think of anything else that may have pormpted them to suggest waiving the physicals because Amare is looking better and better physically as the season goes on.

Call me a hater, crazy, whatever.... but IMO the first scenario would have no chance of netting NY a championship with DA and his shitbox system in place. Especially without an unselfish(distributing) PG to run it. Wade is a tremondous player, don't get me wrong.
In the end....Not nearly enough D there.

The second scenario would probably have enough star power to get it done....but i still have my doubt's. Depends on the supporting cast and the type of opponent they'd be facing.

Neither of those is close to a championship roster. House as a starting PG, give me a break.

Very few people think he is washed up, the knock on him is staying healthy. i watched that game and although he did well in his debut i didn't like how he passed up some key shots (i was really hoping they beat OKC), it was almost as if he was playing safe during crunch time.

I don't think that's quite it. My guess is that it's simply concern over dealing with the consequences of a trade recalled because of a failed physical. And I really doubt that it would be Amare that failed - his issues are known and documented. It wouldn't pose much of a problem if Houston had to welcome back their role players but it's a much different scenario when you have to take back a player of Amare's stature.

If you put a team like that together its a given that at least 3 high quality vets will play there for the min. just to get in on the spectacle.

The trade can still go through even if players fail a physical as long as the team agrees. Obviously it was concern about Houston cancelling the trade and not the Suns that prompted the Suns to waive physicals. And like I said Chandler's health problems were known and documented yet the Thunder still decided to trade for him until they thought better of it.
