go to suns.com and you can watch the live webcast of the suns scrimmage.

The teams appear to be...

Nash, Marks, Diaw, Bell, Banks, Thomas, Pike

vs.

Barbosa, Marion, Strawberry, Hill, Skinner, Tucker, Marshall

At least that's who is in right now.

Strawberry looks great right now. They are interviewing Amare right now and he says everybody loves DJ.

Marks hit an outside jumper, but couldn't get up high enough to finish an alley-oop from Nash. DJ got a steal and went the other way for a dunk.

Amare says he'll definitely be ready for opening day and can't wait to play against KT.

Hill and Raja are on fire. Hill's midrange shot is awesome. He's gonna be huge for the Suns this year.

Edit: Tied at 26 after 1. Amare has nice things to say about everyone, particularly Diaw, DJ, Hill and Marion.

Edit 2: LOL. Marks just blocked the crap out of someone. I think it was Marshall.

This just in...

Grant Hill runs the pick and roll well. Marion with the slam!

Edit: Alando Tucker is shooting very well so far.

Hill & Raja have been awesome so far. Marion's had a couple of dunks. DJ & Tucker have also made some nice shots. That block by marks was pretty surprising and then he got the fast break dunk on the other end.

DJ looks awesome. He also looks a lot bigger than I thought. Im sure he has a lot to learn but he looks to be the most NBA ready 59th pick in history.

Seeing how well hill is doing makes me extremely excited for this season

Piat is leading the game with charges.

Diaw has got some great moves.

Marks is having some moments of impressiveness.

Doug Thomas definitely has wicked hops but seems a bit awkward at times.

Tucker has a sweet shot but still seems to be playing a notch slower than he needs to.

Diaw/Hill/Nash is going to be an UNSTOPPABLE playmaking machine.

im such a suns homer.

Not really, your assessment is pretty accurate so far. Marion is also playing really well. Hill looks like the best player on the floor to me. I never realized just how great a ball-handler he is. Also, like the announcers said, people seem to forget that Hill is a legit 6'8". He's a huge asset for the Suns.

Yeah, Marks has looked surprisingly good.

I have no idea why Burke played over him last year. At the very least, Marks is a much smarter player and appears to be a better rebounder as well. He's not a super athlete, but he's pretty athletic for his size I'd say. He doesn't make as many stupid mistakes as Burke did.

Doug Thomas is nasty... I hope he makes the team

i agree. he is so hard to guard. i wonder how his defense is... with those hops i imagine he can block some shots at least. i really liked him too.

marion and hill looked so nice. banks definitely looked much improved, and boris looks like himself again. this game made me want the season to start NOW! to me, this team appeared to be in championship form

The teams looked solid in the 1st half and then got sloppy and missed more shots in the 2nd like they were tired. Still lots of positive signs from a lot of different players.

Game Over. Nash's team won 97-91. I thought Hill was the best player of the game. He really looked like a 6'8" Nash out there. Whenever he got a rebound, his head was up immediately and he threw a few long passes for dunks. He looked pretty quick as well, especially with the ball. His ball handling is amazing, one of the best in the league for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see him put up regular season numbers similar to Diaw's huge playoff numbers two years ago. He looks like a triple double threat to me.

Diaw also had a great game. He was very aggressive and looked for his shot often.

Nash was Nash.

Marion was Marion.

Barbosa did his usual thing but I was probably less impressed with him than the other regulars.

Bell was on fire to start, but I didn't get to see much of him in the second half because I was eating dinner.

Marks really impressed me. He looked a lot more scrappy than Skinner and did a very good job rebounding. He also hit some long shots and made a few athletic plays.

I thought Banks looked pretty solid as well. He finished around the basket as well and looked very confident in his jumpshot. I think moving him to the off-guard position is a good idea.

Strawberry's defense is fantastic. I didn't see much from him on the offensive end, although I think he's a better dribbler than advertised. His shot needs a lot of work.

I thought Tucker looked decent as well. His shot doesn't look bad to me at all, and he made a good percentage. He also is very athletic with excellent body control around the rim. I'm not sure how much he'll contribute this year, but I can see him being a solid player in a year or two.

I didn't see much from Skinner, but he did make a nice 18 footer off a screen and roll. He also set a nasty pick on Banks.

Thomas is an athletic freak, but he looked pretty goofy out there. He can jump, but I don't think he can do much else.

No injuries, good game.

i was really impressed by boris. he was aggressive for the first time since may '06.

they also told a story (dantoni said this) how last year shawn and amare were having a contest on who had the higher vertical. then boris showed up and made them his sons.

everyone else... well, they are who i thought they were :)

I missed that part. Did they say what their verticals were?

I wish the Suns would keep Thomas for development. He would be a nice prospect to keep around if the Suns can find the room. However, Kerr pretty much said he would add PJ to the roster if he gets bored of retirement later on. I well think PJ may become a Sun say in January.

I like what Kerr said about Hill. He said Hill called the Suns and told them he'd like to play there. Kerr said they'd love to have him and that was pretty much it. :)

Nope. Boris just showed them how it was done. Boris looked very good tonight especially taking the ball in the paint.

"A team with a starting five of Steve Nash (15 points, nine assists), Diaw (21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists), Raja Bell (14 points), Marks (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Marcus Banks (17 points) won 97-91 in a 40-minute contest against a team that started Shawn Marion (30 points, 10 rebounds) Grant Hill (21 points, six rebounds, six assists), Brian Skinner (11 rebounds), Leandro Barbosa (13 points, seven rebounds, six assists) and D.J. Strawberry (eight points, six assists). "

a couple more things i saw:

-grant hill played A LOT, and really good. he's going to straight win games for us.
-at one point hill drove to the hole got fouled and finished, but also had his feet tied up and seemingly rolled his ankle on the replay. however, hill acted like nothing happened. definite positive
-diaw shot the midrange jumper with WAY better form than previous years, and you could tell. the body language was big time confidence, and it REALLY stood out.
-gotta say, this banks talk is overblown. he won't be HORRENDOUS this year (simply because he won't be asked to make decisions), but imo not good enough for playing time if it matters.
-strawberry might get playing time when it matters. dude's hands are all over the place. d'antoni said "he already has a skill that puts him among the elite in this league". i'm assuming he wasnt referring to the shooting ability lol
-barbosa kind of took a backseat to marion and hill today. kinda weird, actually saw him pass up some shots.
-amare said he'd be ready by game 1, kerr said maybe not. they said they checked the schedule and know he'll have 9 days from the time he gets on the practice court till game 1, and they'll see if that's enough. they don't mind him missing the first week or 2.
-based off this, our rotation imo will be the top 7 + a platoon of marks/skinner for 10-15min. also, if strawberry keeps playing well, he's the first guy getting garbage minutes.

what i saw really just makes me think that we're really just going to run away from a lot of people this year. there's going to be a lot of blowouts, and in the dog-days we're going to play REALLY crappy defense because of the ridiculous scoring prowess.

as long as this team stays healthy, i would expect nash to be able to sit for the 4th for at least 25 games this year. i say this because of the likelihood of large leads mixed with a bench that can hold the fort defensively (and with leandro + boris should be able to score just fine)

DJ
Leandro
Alando
Skinner/Marks
Diaw
