Booker is in the exact situation Goodwin was age wise. Both were the youngest players in their drafts and both were 18 years old at the time of the draft after just finishing a year at Kentucky. Booker however may be more NBA ready than Goodwin was because of his shooting ability.

Booker is not nearly as raw as Archie was when drafted. He is already a shooter and Archie hasn't figured that one out yet. He is also more mature. Archie had a rep for not being very coachable. Everything out there about Booker says he is a coach's dream.

When Horny evaluated Booker he said he is a very well refined player in the nuances of the game in things like footwork, body positioning, and fundamentals.

That is very encouraging.

Maybe Booker can put some pressure (in a good way) on Archie to develop his outside shot. Nothing like competition from a younger Kentucky player.

Goodwin was taken at the end of the first round. The success rate of players in that position is very low. He was drafted as a "maybe," and it looks like the maybe isn't panning out. Obviously he has some talent, or he wouldn't have been drafted at all, but if the complete package doesn't show up sooner or later, it's time to move on. Not a big deal.

IMO, I think Goodwin is going to come around and be something special. However, are the Suns willing to wait? I think more time is all Goodwin needs as he is still only 20. Hopefully the Suns will still have him on their roster when the lights turn on.

Yup. Its hard though. You see the potential there, but it just never fully pans out. But that is exactly the reason he was drafted in the late first round.

Great question. How much would it sting though to let a player go only to become something special? That's so hard in sports though.

Well, on one hand it hurts, but on the other hand would that player have become what he did if he didn't go to another team? Sometimes a change of scenery is what gets a player to the next level. Whether it be because of a system that fits them better or simply getting a bigger role/opportunity to prove himself on the court.

We should give Goodwin another contract and let Gerald Green go now. Goodwin is not good enough to start yet so we need to sign someone or keep starting Tucker. Then Goodwin and Booker can share whatever time is left at 1-2 behind Bledsoe + Knight or Bledsoe/Knight + Tucker.

I would love to see Goodwin get a chance, but it's hard to develop someone playing behind two combo guards who eat up some 70+ minutes of the available 96. One of them has to go, or you can forget about developing Goodwin, Booker, Bogdanovic, etc.

Green is already gone, Booker is his replacement.

At this point you'd have to say he was definitely an "A" pick at #13.
