Yes but 'tis the stuff of legend. I've seen them called for fouls and traveling but only when they are playing in international ball. Of course, you'll never again see Timmy play without the support of his paid assistants (in stripes).

Steve

Popovich is trying to get the situation under control as the assistants have strayed.

That was a BS call a little while ago, with Manu rolling under Green.

Too bad, but once again an inspiring performance. Three wins and two close losses on the road against two championship contenders. If that's what tanking looks like, we're in for a great season (and will hopefully be rewarded by lucky lottery drops).

That could have well influenced the outcome of the game. The Suns played well.

No moral victories but they introduced themselves to the Thunder and the Spurs.

Yes there are moral victories this year. Stayed in it without Goran. Had a chance at the last shot AND a little closer to more ping pong balls. Still, I always love to beat the Spurs.

Its all good.

Man I love Eddie Johnson... Love the way he calls a game.

Each to their own I guess. He bugs me to no end. He probably isn't the worst analyst but he does the same thing every game. He was one of my favorite players and I liked him when he first picked up the mic but he can't seem to remember it isn't about him, it's about the guys on the court. I didn't listen to him tonight, I get a much better account of the game from the homers on the other side.

I agree. Put the score aside and judge the team on the overall performance. They are playing hard and with a confidence I wouldn't have expected. Maybe we didn't get the Spurs at their best but I think we have a lot to do with why our opponents aren't playing at their best.

The Suns are one more "star" away from being a pretty good team.

Manu running under Green and getting the call is completely typical and changed the outcome of the game IMO. Refs have been falling for his BS for years...

All a matter of taste I guess... I think he has. Very unique approach. No nonsense. Nothing over the top. Just a consistent, smooth style that, at least for me is usually quite accurate...

The good news is that both Ginobili and Duncan will be long gone by the time the Suns are relevant again. We can't erase the past losses, but for now, let them have their fun.

i like EJ too, he always brings up the fundamentals of basketball encouraging the youth to learn and pick up on certain things that nba players do the right way.

Haven't been able to catch the last couple games which is a bummer as it looks like we've been playing some entertaining ball. Why are we so much more competitive this year? Has Hornacek made that much of a difference?

I would say that they are much quicker defensively. Even though the "running game" we were promised hasn't materialized, total defensive breakdowns have been quite rare. Most shots are challenged, and the defensive rebounding has been solid. It's a cliché, but they're "competing on both ends of the floor."

Hornacek has made a big difference. He's very solid.

Hornacek looks like he can coach. Really like the hire. The defense is night and day from the Dantoni / Gentry era and he has them playing to their strengths.

Not a lot of talent but he is utilizing it really well IMO.

It's still really early, but I like what I see.

Listened to the end of the game on the radio. I thought I'd never be upset with losing this season, but being that we were so close to beating the defending WCF champs, I wish we would've finished the deed.

Not sure what to attribute this surprising start to: luck or the foundation for a solid overall team

I do believe that defense at the pg position is key to being a good defense overall. If you can keep the opposing pg from roming completely free and making plays its much easier for everyone else to play d.

Man, how many palming / travelling calls did the Suns get last night? That really killed the team's momentum when it looked like they might get some separation.

Also, I was VERY impressed by the Morris brothers. I was happy they were attacking the hoop to set up the jumpshots. Also they had some nice in traffic rebounds on the defensive end and played large enough to get a way without having a true 5 out there.

Aesthetically I still prefer Ish to Bledsoe (at least on the offensive end). He just seems to be so much more heady with the ball. I find he makes so much better reads on the defense and anticipating their rotations. Conversely, I find Bledsoe just pounds the ball a lot and ends up taking some tough shots.

I have no problem using "WE" when I talk about myself and the team I follow. I am nowhere close to being part of the team but there is a larger unit that encompasses everything to do with the team and I am a part of that. I am not at all embarrassed to say we played well last night or we have two tough games coming up soon. It's part of being a fan AFAIC. Don't use "we" if you don't want to but don't let yourself be talked out of it (if that's what's happening). As for the palming/traveling calls on us, unfortunately, they looked to be the right calls to me.

Honestly for me I'm trying to disassociate a bit because I get REALLY caught up in an unhealthy way with the suns. My wife has basically stopped talking to me when the suns lose because I'm usually in a sour mood. So I'm trying to take some baby steps to not get so riled up and this is just a part of it I guess.

As for the palming/traveling, I agree, they were the right calls for the most part. My issue is that there felt like a number of similar infractions happening on the Spurs that were not called. I'll fully admit, this may be my homerism at play but Parker and Diaw in particular could have been called a number of times but didn't. That's the part that annoys me.

I don't know if a change in pronouns will help you out here but best of luck. I consider myself a die-hard fan but it's never reached the "unhealthy" stage for me so I can't really say much about that.

As for the double standards with the Spurs, it happens every time we play them. I'm so much of a homer that I usually try to not focus on the referee calls but it just jumps out at you when you play San Antonio. The worst for me though was the way we were always treated in Utah during the Malone/Stockton era. I swear the Jazz could have brought clubs and handguns onto the court without picking up a call but they'd whistle us for a foul if we even considered playing defense (not that we did much of that).

I thought the offensive foul on Green near the end was classic Manu flopping. I think the contact was minimal if anything. Green spun away from him.
