When I watch the Suns play this year I almost always feel like I'm watching Olympic Figure Skating and the judges are all Russians or friends thereof.

Hi guys. I haven't a clue what Russians have to do with the Suns problems. Anyone?

New here. A Russian. If Ryan McDonough were a Russian you wouldn't be in this position. He wouldn't have been so thick. He'd have drafted Doncic.

Really liking Melton so far. He's got a ways to go but he is an actual PG. I like Okobo also but it's clear that he's adjusting to the position change. Melton on the other hand is just more of a scoring PG and provided he can learn to balance that a little better he'll have a good future in the league.

Do you not remember the ice skating scandal that involved the Russian judges and I believe Canadian judges, doing favors for each other in the Winter games to rig the figure skating event? I want to say that took place in 2010, maybe further back, but I know "Russian judges" has been sort of a crack to make about bad officiating since then.

Anyways, welcome to the board!

Edit, it was 2002 and here's a wiki page that explains everything.

Well that was disappointing.

MElton looked like he had a nice game.

He is a reason to watch. He had 6 assists and 5 turnovers but he brought a lot of other things to the table.

I know that everyone is pretty high on Melton right now but I don’t like the fact that he has taken the most shots on the team for two games in a row. That’s not what we need out of our pg. He needs to focus more on getting every one else involved and less on getting his own shots.

did anyone else see the story that the JC Classic, which had 3 of the best college teams in the country playing in it, had scouts from 24 different teams there to watch 3 of the best teams in college... while the Suns had NONE? An event in our own backyard to scout this year's draft and we've got no one there to scout? Apparently James Jones eventually showed up AFTER the tweet went out and embarrassed the team. Anyone else irked by this?
it was shown to be false. The entire scouting staff (that is still around) was there.

I maintain both Melton and Okobo are more suited to a Leandro Barbosa instant offense off the bench role. Neither has a future as a starting NBA point guard, in my opinion.

Well that was disappointing.

MElton looked like he had a nice game.

7-16 from the field, no free throw attempts, 6 assists, 5 turnovers and a -3 plus-minus, while his counterpart, one no-name Bryn Forbes, was 8-14 from the field, 5-5 from three-point range, 3-3 from the free throw line, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers and a +22 plus=minus.

Melton had an awful game, as did the entire team other than Ayton and Warren.

In any event, there is no way that Melton should lead the team in shot attempts (particularly when he can't hit the broad side of a barn) and that Ayton should have less shots than three of his teammates (particularly when none of those teammates is Devin Booker).

Still, the biggest disappointment tonight was the huge step backwards Josh Jackson took after he showed promise last night but was not rewarded for it last night (as Daniels was played down the stretch over him).

Maybe is has something to do with the following, from rotoworld.com this morning:

Josh Jackson said he believes the lack of stability in Phoenix has hampered his development.
The Suns have had three different head coaches and two different general managers in the 14 months since the start of his rookie season. "It would definitely be a lot better if we were more stable," said Jackson. "I don’t think any other player in my class has gone through as much change within their team as I have. Since the moment I came into the league, it’s just been all about changes and adjustments, new coach after my second game of the season, like, c’mon now, really? That doesn’t happen." I see Melton doing his best Mike James impression these past two games, sorry but I do not see him being anymore than a third tier PG.

Man he’s young and this is the first real run he’s gotten at the nba level after taking a year off.

lack of "stability" isn't Josh's problem
it's lack of discipline
he needs to be told "no"
"no 3's, no rushing your shot"
"if you want to play with the big boys, play D, pass, and shoot, in that order"

Indeed. The team really needs a disciplinarian coach.

Ayton had Marco Bellinelli on him and he could not get past him. I turned the game off at that point. Marco. Bellineli.

He cannot continue to play so passively.

This is getting so old. Play tough against a good team blown out by a bad team.

No effort tonight...again

If Ayton is going to continue to play so far from the basket I'd like to him on the floor with Holmes.

Melton consistently made dumb passes and took bad shots. He’s a good ball handler and can probably be a good pg.
Jackson needs to stop jumping as soon as he gets by his defender. Most of his shots were from this weird no mans land. He has been good in the past when he keeps his dribble after going around the defender.

I do not agree. They were just outmanned and the back to back against a rested team did affect them.

This is the way I see it as well. There is a lot to like about this second round rookie. I really like that he is an energy player like Holmes.

I suspect very similar comments were made about Russell Westbrook when he too was a 20 year old rookie. And no, I'm not saying Melton is a Westbrook in the making but interestingly enough, De'Anthony holds his own in a stats comparison at the same age (using per 36 numbers).

I like Melton as a prospect. It is the coach's job to get him to play within himself (and within the team concept, whatever that is) and to develop him properly.
